GRANVILLE — Vermont State Police said today a third person has died from injuries received in a home explosion in Granville earlier this month.

Sheila Hammond, 69, the homeowner, died while getting treatment out-of-state for critical injuries received in the propane leak blast on Saturday Sept. 5, police said.

Her daughter and grandson from Essex Junction were killed in the 7:45 p.m. explosion, which happened during his 20th birthday celebration, officials said.

Liam O’Sullivan, 20, died at the scene, while his mother, Sarah O’Sullivan, 46, died at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. Both victims died from blast-related injuries, police said.

Hammond reportedly was treated for injuries at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and later was transferred to a Massachusetts hospital for extensive treatment.

The explosion leveled the house on Connecticut Trail, off Post Office Hill Road.

It was ruled an accident by the Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.

Two others received minor injuries.
