Third arrest in Danby drug dispute murder

The Vermont State Police on Monday, Feb. 5 arrested a third suspect on charges arising from the Feb. 2, 2022, homicide of 17-year-old Isiah Rodriguez in Danby.

Elijah Johnson, 22, of Manchester was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant on a charge of being an accessory after the fact. Prosecutors also have filed additional charges of conspiracy to commit murder and aiding in the commission of a felony. Police arrested Johnson in Burlington following his release from federal custody on unrelated charges. He was transported to the Rutland Barracks for processing and then subsequently jailed at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility for lack of $15,000 bail.

Johnson is expected to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Bennington.

On Monday, Jan. 29, members of the state police arrested 32-year-old Ashley Wicks and 28-year-old Shawn Bulson, both of Bennington, on charges of being accessories after the fact to the fatal shooting. Wicks also was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Both suspects are expected to be arraigned Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Bennington. A hearing also is expected on whether probable cause exists to charge Wicks with the conspiracy count.

Through a complex, lengthy investigation that began after Rodriguez’s body was found early Feb. 3, 2022, on Danby Mountain Road, state police detectives determined the homicide arose from a dispute among a group of people regarding drug trafficking and stolen firearms.

  1. gang warfare/// nothing to see here folks/// now is this another vermont boy or was this another tourist///

  2. Of Manchester!!!!! Community Organizer (i.e.: Communist) SETH BONGARTZ (D), Manchester will now be bending over backward to have this poor, misunderstood snake out in time for dinner at Mickey Dee’s, while simultaneously watering down Act 250 (see latest story today in VDC on new bills) in order to alter zoning throughout Vermont to provide for MORE low-income housing for yet MORE of this infestation. Altering VT’s zoning complies with his god’s Obama & Biden plan in their vision for “equitable” high-density housing “workforce” (LOL) housing in most towns across the US in order to increase “diversity”.

The zoning in Manchester has already been permanently altered as Bongartz rather quietly but adeptly propagates the left’s “housing is a right” and “anyone should be able to live anywhere they want” mantras…..whilst making certain citizens are well aware this of course never includes Martha’s Vinyard, Oahu, Hawaii or Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Think you might just stealthily escape the urbanization and forced diversity of all of VT because your little, out-of-the-way hometown hasn’t sought to harm a soul since 1791? Think again then as Commie commando Seth Bongartz is more than aware of the flagrant racism, bigotry, and inequity that you & yours are committing in perpetuity in your towns across this state!

  3. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering what part of Chicago or California or NYC Mr. Bongartz hails from? Well, this social justice warrior was born n’ raised right here in Vermont!

    VOTE THESE CRAZIES OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Just more trash from our neighboring states, bringing there drug business here to some feckless citizens, and when things go wrong, you get things……..like murder !!

    wake up people

    • He was born and raised in Manchester, his grandfather was a pillar of the community and rolling over in his grave.
Mighty white of you to be so ignorant.
