Thieve(s) steal town vehicles to remove ATM machine

Someone(s) stole a front-end loader and pickup truck from the Fairfax town garage and used them to remove an ATM machine at 3 AM this morning, June 26.

At 3:03 AM state police were notified of an alarm at the Union Bank located at 9 Ramsey Rd in Fairfax. Troopers found the outdoor ATM had been removed forcibly by a piece of heavy machinery.

The white pickup truck was later located on Swamp Rd near Wilkins Brook. No damage was done to either the white pickup or the front-end loader. Significant damage was done to the ATM and the exterior to the bank property. The Vermont State Police are asking for public assistance in identifying the individual/s involved. 1. The damage to or theft of an ATM machine ought to be treated as a bank robbery and prosecuted by the federal courts…

  2. Stealing an ATM, sounds like the Federal government should be involved, but you have to give to these thieves, for ingenuity two stolen vehicles a front loader and a pickup truck……………… I guess wasn’t there first time !!!

Times are tough financially in Vermont, this won’t be the only incident.

  3. Talk about adding insult to injury…town equipment to rob a bank machine!

Could the perp be sending a message by killing 2 birds with one stone…i.e. high taxes, town equipment, rob bank machine, to pay taxes?

    Wouldn’t suprise me…over tax,ove regulation equals…snap?

  4. Given the way Vermont taxes are going I can see a necessity defense being claimed at trial.
