Swanton Village Police jailed two out-of-state suspected drug dealers, seized a large amount of controlled substances and a firearm with a defaced serial number following a raid on a home on Frontage Road at Lafar Road, officials said.

Mustafa M. Muhammed, 24, of Philadelphia, Penn. and Anthon R. Avery, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y., were lodged for a lack of $25,000 bail on fentanyl and cocaine trafficking charges, Swanton Police said.
Three local Swanton residents also were arrested at the house during the raid on Thursday, but Vermont Superior Court Judge Mary Morrissey did not find probable cause for charges to lodge them, police said.
Swanton Village Police Chief Matthew O. Sullivan said the investigation continues, and the department is continuing to work with the Franklin County State’s Attorney’s Office. It is possible the cases against the three local residents will be resubmitted with more information for the court to consider.
After the multi-week investigation by Swanton Police, local officers called in assistance from Vermont State Police, the Grand Isle Sheriffs Department and the U.S. Border Patrol to help execute the court-ordered search.

Police said they seized more than 13 ounces of crack cocaine, almost 1.5 ounces of fentanyl, $2,676 in cash and a Ruger 9-mm pistol with a defaced serial number, which is a federal violation.
Sullivan said the Swanton Police continue to embrace the ongoing fight against drugs through treatment, enforcement and education.
“The Swanton Village Police Department embraces a philosophy of assisting individuals who suffer from substance use disorder in receiving treatment,” Sullivan said.
He said Swanton Police “will aggressively address narcotic distribution and the tertiary crime associated with such activity and hold all individuals accountable to the best of our ability within the confines of the law.”

More tourists selling their goods from out of state locations.
Just a couple of seventh-generation Vermonters that got tired of farming, I guess. Who could have predicted?
“Who could have predicted”…LOL. For sure, from Philly and Brooklyn, just doesn’t fit any of the stereotypes.
Are we sure that they weren’t “Swanton businessmen” ? 🙂
They were just operating “safe business sites.”
Shocking. Not.
Call the Feds!! I see federal violations all over the place, if I can see ’em, what must there really be here? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!
Burlington mayor would welcome them with open arms
