Vermont’s leading pro-life group is offering cash prizes for students to author essays on the subject, “The Value of a Human Life.”

An online flyer (above) published with support from the Vermont Right to Life Committee Education Trust is being distributed to families, churches and schools, and can be seen here. It describes essay contest subject and submission guidelines and the prizes available (see page four).

The flyers were developed for the Respect Life Month of October to encourage Vermonters to reflect on the value of human life,” VRLC Executive Director Mary Beerworth said. “We believe that pastors, priests, teachers, parents and grandparents have an especially important role to play in bringing the positive message of life to the next generation. This beautiful, four-page color brochure is a tool designed to assist with those conversations.”

Beerworth hopes parents and church and school leaders will challenge young people to engage in the Essay Contest entitled: “The Value of a Single Human Life,” in which young people will reflect on a person in their lives whom they have come to value and appreciate.

In addition to a first place prize of $500 for an individual, a church, religious education program, youth Bible study or school could qualify to win the $1000 group prize if five or more students submit an essay. If you would like to have flyers sent to you for distribution, or for your own family, please email vrlc@vrlc.net and include the number of flyers you would like to receive along with a name and mailing address.
