The deadline is fast approaching for the Pro-Life Vermont 2025 statewide student essay contest, inviting Vermont middle and high school students to reflect on the theme, “The Value of a Single Human Life.”
All entries are due by midnight, Monday November 3.
The annual contest, announced August 24, encourages students to choose someone they appreciate and write about why they are glad that person was born, while also addressing the broader question of why every human life has value.
Organizers say last year’s competition drew nearly 200 essays from students across Vermont, and they hope to exceed that number this fall.
The contest is open to Vermont residents in grades 6–12 for the 2025–2026 school year. Students who participated previously — including past winners — may enter again, provided they still meet eligibility requirements. Submissions must follow official guidelines and be received by November 3.
This year’s awards will include three first-place prizes of $500, one for each grade group: 6–8, 9–10, and 11–12. Each category will also have five runners-up, who will receive $100.
Organizers say the goal of the contest is to encourage thoughtful writing and personal reflection among young people while highlighting the organization’s belief in the inherent worth of every human life.More information, including submission rules, is available through Vermont Right to Life.

Every pro abortion advocate alive today was fortunate their parents wanted them, but that dynamic seems to mean little or nothing to such people. They get to live while thriving unborn children are victimized and murdered daily. How these educated and enlightened citizens can view living, breathing human embryos as insects or inanimate objects is something I cannot fathom. Abortion is an abomination.
I have no answers. Oh, wait! Yes, I do. Adoption or abstinance. I know, I know, pro-life is not cool and progressive and empowering and feminist and relativist and inclusive and politically correct and socially acceptable,but EVERY pro abortion supporter got their shot at life because their mother chose not to abort them. They are, therefore, hypocrites.
