Last night, the Thetford Selectboard considered warning a vote for town meeting in March asking residents whether non-citizens should be eligible to vote in local elections.
Burlington, Montpelier, and Winooski have all taken such action in recent years relying on legislative action to enact the rules.
Unlike those three towns, Thetford, in eastern Orange County, lacks a municipal charter making its pathway less clear, according to discussion.
“The charter is typically the mechanism to alter state statutes at the local level,” said Thetford Town Manager Brian Story.
Ultimately, the board took no action and instead will consult Vermont League of Cities and Towns about its options.
Relatedly, the board voted 3-2 against warning an item to move town meeting to Australian ballot. Instead, the board told supporters to submit a petition if they want a vote on the change.

| Media scion has capitalist money, Marxist revolution plans – According to a report in the The Free Press: The ‘General Secretary of the Berkshire Communists’ has $250 million to spend on Communist Revolution and he’s settled in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire. Fergie Chambers is an heir to the Cox cable conglomerate. He’s moving a revolutionary compound from Alford, MA to New Hampshire. “They’re all still getting their bearings in New Hampshire. They only moved here from Alford this past January for its lax gun laws and low tax burden, after Fergie decided to cash out.” |

Unreal
Non-citizen voting is Unconstitutional.
This is a fine opportunity for our Republic! All patriotic local non-citizens should report to each town with non-citizen voting and vote for all the most expensive local tax items. This will strongly help our local communities with Democracy.
I ain’t joking. They deserve what they get.
Next thing we know, they’ll start allowing presidential candidates who were not born in the US to become president and live in the White House.
This is Roman Empire circa 450 AD stuff. Leave it to Vermont to lead the way on the slow but steady demise of the Republic. All in the name of virtue signaling.
Um… Yeah… What could possibly go wrong? Is this constitutional? Why aren’t we engaged in lawfare just like the opposition?
It’s really just as simple as it is effective. Don’t like some new law? Tie it up in court until you bankrupt your opponent or get a more favorable government. Easy-peasy.
That’s the most un-constitutional travesty ! Why? Because the Dems let these people across the border, gave them everything they need and now you want them to vote a certain way to align with your plan??? No!!
