The name of the U.S. Border Patrol officer slain in Coventry yesterday, reportedly by an illegal immigrant who had overstayed his visa, was revealed on the floor of the Vermont Senate this morning.
Shortly after the Senate convened at 9 AM, Lt. Gov. John Rodgers asked for a moment of silence. After that, Sen. Russ Ingalls (R-Essex) rose to address his colleagues.
“We’re having a really rough day in the kingdom,” an audibly and visibly distraught Sen. Russ Ingalls said. “I just want to put a name to the face of the officer that was killed yesterday. His name is David Maland,” Ingalls said.
Online information about Maland is skimpy, a situation not uncommon for law enforcement officers. However, more information about the illegal alien involved in the shooting has been reported by News Nation reporter Ali Bradley, who broke the story yesterday afternoon:
“Via DHS sources who tell me there were 2 suspects in the altercation along the highway in Vermont yesterday—One male and one female. The male was from Germany (H1B visa – overstay). Both were armed. The agents performed a vehicle stop, and at some point a gunfight ensued.
“The male suspect was shot and killed. The female was also wounded (no update on her status). The Border Patrol agent, identified as 44 y/o David Maland was shot and later succumbed to his injuries. His partner was not injured.”
There is no further information on the identity of either the male German or his female partner, other than that she was wounded and is being treated while in police custody.

The gaslighting of Vermonters is over. The racist hijinks of race-baiting progressives has increased the scourge of drug and sex trafficking into our state. Calling our police racist using distorted propaganda (Yes, Stephanie Seguino) is a heinous crime of its own. Perhaps Vermont’s Truth and Reconciliation Committee will take that up rather than whine about ancient sins that are dwarfed by Vermont’s long record of racial tolerance — destroyed by the new racists who use skin color to inflict these and many other harmful, unconstitutional consequences. Vermont is not racist: Its Progressive Party is though!! (Ironic that it was also MLK day — Vermont now elevates race above merit: it is vile and must be reversed!) We must support our good police, not denigrate them with lies and Marxist race ideology!!

Thank you for mentioning Stephanie Seguino, one of UVM’s many progressive faculty hired to further their DEI agenda. In fall 2020, the SJW’s in our town went full bore on their push for flying the BLM flag and lobbying for a new social justice committee with full-time dedicated DEI staff. I actually read the Sequino “study” and responded to the selectboard detailing point by point why the SJW’s demands were unsupportable on any factual data basis, which was even acknowledge within the study. It showed no such bias on the part of the police department and didn’t present any evidence there ever was, but it made many allegations and assumptions. I still have the correspondence. The only member of the selectboard that voted against it was immediately attacked publicly, and she resigned shortly after.
Exactly, John. The question is how to get through to the ignorant Vermonters who think they are cool kids for voting for these Marxist morons. As we see all to clearly, ignorant voters are extremely dangerous.
Memo to President Donald Trump and Tom Holman: You are more than welcome to come to Vermont anytime and clean house up here in any manner you see fit.
They were “from Germany.” Not that this means anything these days.

Terrible tragedy that could have been completely avoided. In my opinion, sanctuary states, communities are breaking the law and must be rescinded now. My condolences to the family for their loss of Border Patrol Agent David Maland, rest in peace, we will always value and cherish the hard work and service of those protecting us from harm and maintaining law and order. Mr. Homan, please send resources to the Northern Border. We The People want law and order and a secure border.
Thankfully this tragic news was brought to Tom Homan’s attention today and he immediately addressed the need to enforce the northern border on national television. He has the back of every border agent and cares for them deeply and praised them for their hard work over the years especially under the restraint of being understaffed and reduced hours. He added that the northern border is so much easier to cross than the southern and is aggressively in pursuit of implementing Trump’s plan. Meanwhile Joe Zero is most likely on permanent beach house vacationing and trying to wash away the blood on his hands…does he even care? Trump has done more in 40 hours than Vegetable Joe did in 4 years. Keep it coming, Mr. President! Hey, Stanek, George, and Clark…did you hear Trump’s executive order aimed right at your litany of failures, “There will be no more Catch and Release.” Welcome to Vermont, Mr. President!
Unfortunately, the leadership in Vermont supported, legislated, and invited sanctuary to all illegals – regardless of their real idenities, backgrounds, or intentions. A man in our country illegally was armed and near the border of Canada. Where was he prior to that and who was aiding and abetting him?
A federal law enforcement officer was murdered in Vermont and there are many accomplices and accessories to that crime. Not hyperbole, it is a fact. Aiding and abetting criminal conduct is a federal felony – will the FBI not only take names, but take into custody all those responsible for the manslaughter of a federal law enforcement officer – one of their brothers? Nothing less will suffice under Title 18 – enforce the law!
The danger our country, state, and communities suffer at the hands of illegal aliens is all the doing of democrats. Anyone who thinks democrats care about the common citizen is seriously delusional. Democrats import illegals to turn them into democrat voters because all they really care about is power. Our country dodged what could have been its final bullet when the sane among us rejected the brainless Harris in favor of Trump, who is obviously the adult in DC. Things are now going to change for the better. Never, ever vote for a democrat.
And our grand leader Phil voted for ‘word salad Harris”, that right there tells you everything about our boy Phil.
