Two NEK homicides reported this week have drug connections

Two unconnected Northeast Kingdom slayings with drug-crime connections are in the news this week.
The suspect in a Barton murder-by-bludgeon and the victim in a St. Johnsbury slaying both had a significant drug arrest history.
Local police found Christina Chatlos, 38, of Williamstown and Barre, dead inside a car on Portland Street, with two gunshots to her torso. Police have picked up two people of interest on arrest warrants, but have not released the names.
The investigation began at about 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, January 23 when St. Johnsbury police received a report from a passerby who saw a vehicle with apparent bullet holes in a parking lot in the area of 510 Portland St., and a woman slumped over inside the vehicle.
Chatlos was arrested on drug charges in Graniteville in 2022 and in Barre in 2020.
Mistaken drug-debt slaying – Following a detailed investigation spanning over four years, Vermont State Police detectives have named a suspect in the 2019 homicide of Richard Poginy of Glover, state police and the Newport Dispatch report.
The suspected killer – now serving federal time for drug-dealing offenses – mistakenly believed Poginy owed a drug debt, WCAX reported.
The case initially began as a response to a single-vehicle crash on Hollow Road in Barton on Nov. 2, 2019. Fire/EMS and State Police arrived at the scene to find Richard Poginy as the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The crash, which occurred while Poginy was traveling south on Hollow Road, appeared minor, with the vehicle sustaining only slight front and rear bumper damage. Initially, it was believed Poginy might have suffered an unknown medical event leading to the crash.
Poginy was first transported to North Country ER and subsequently moved to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for further treatment. However, a week later, he succumbed to his injuries.
The medical examination at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center revealed that Poginy’s death was due to “complications of blunt impact head injuries,” which were inconsistent with the injuries expected from the minor crash. This led to the medical examiner ruling his death a homicide.
Throughout the ensuing years, detectives from the State Police’s Major Crime Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigations conducted in-depth interviews with multiple witnesses. These investigations pointed to Brownswell Cedano, 29, as the perpetrator.
Cedano allegedly assaulted Poginy outside a residence in Barton, causing the injuries that led to Poginy’s death. After the assault, Cedano, a resident of Hartford, Connecticut at the time, fled the scene, and Poginy, despite his injuries, managed to drive away before crashing his car.
This week, an arrest warrant for Cedano, on a charge of second-degree murder, was authorized and signed by Judge Justin Jiron in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Newport. Cedano is currently serving a seven-year term at the Federal Correctional Institution Schuylkill in Pennsylvania for unrelated drug distribution charges.
The process and timeline for his extradition to Vermont to face the murder charge are being coordinated.

From that point it was downhill, falling off the rails when the Martin family sold to Gray. Just as BFP started it’s march to oblivion when Gannett purchased the paper.
You nailed it. Red Martin, who founded WCAX TV back in the 1950s must be rolling in his grave. That station was the last TV network affiliate in the US to be privately owned and now it is just another media conglomerate tool. At least WDEV radio was recently bought by 2 conservatives. There was still a moonbat complaining in the SevenDaysVT letters last week about what a tragedy that is. I guess the left is not satisfied with just ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, Public Radio, Public TV, CNN etc etc…
We don’t have a drug, alcohol and homeless problem in Vermont, nope.
Everything is working by design, this is what they want happening in our state, it is NOT an accident or coincidence.
Just like when the mayor of Burlington runs for state office, suddenly they can clean up church street and the park, yet for a decade plus it was a complicated situation and we were working on it in many avenues.
Same for when XI came to visit President Biden, the homeless was gone in ONE day???? Now there is a story nobody is covering, where did they go? What happened.
Vermonters here’s your sign. They don’t represent you they don’t care about you. They care about the money from the lobbyists and the power from the NGO/NonProfits/PAC and the pimps of the NWO….

How??? It needs to be stopped at the polls with immediacy just like what is finally going down with many of the nations in the European Union. A sharp, hard turn to the RIGHT – both politically and figuratively. If not, may we pray that England rules us once again; it will be far better than the alternative we are now facing.
And it needs to be fought at the right time en masse by taking up arms if necessary – the precise reason why, nearly 250 years ago, the 2nd Amendment was passed. For an era such as this – faced with a rogue, power-mongering government. GOD and COUNTRY, guys. Our nation’s survival was never dependent upon God & Job or God & Possessions or even God and Family – but GOD & COUNTRY.
You see, without God and Country – there will not be any more family, (vaguely recall WW ll?) no more possessions, and no occupations or professions as we know them today. Under Communism/Marxism/Totalitarianism, One World Order – the government will be dictating to you every single, solitary comfort & convenience & command.
How did we get here? They have been here all the while waiting to devour us. They have patience. They have organization. And now they have the press. They largely have our mass & social media. They have infiltrated many churches. They are gaining ground on having the medical system. They have occupied the schools…their training ground. And us? We have had but large degrees of apathy, lethargy, and complacence. We were fat and stupid, quite frankly. And WW ll was so long ago, wasn’t it?

Good to know there are killers on our roads and their brains are squirming like a toad. Public safety – a quaint notion and grand fallacy courtesy of an installed, belligerent regime. How many dead, slaughtered, unresponsive bodies found in your neighborhood will it take? How many families destroyed and lives lost before the age of 20, 30 or 40? Now that is in our door yards and on our doorsteps, is the status quo just fine or does more blood need to be spilled in the name of equity and diversity? Whose son or daughter is next?
In China it has taken minimally tens of millions of lives. By then it was far too late. Similar casualties in the USSR, Germany, etc. Always too late. There have been out-of-state people who are family-oriented, law-abiding Americans vacationing and buying homes in VT for nearly a hundred years. What you have now are out-of-their-minds people who are Communists and are set upon “fundamentally transforming” America. Like their leader Obama. “Community organizers”. “Democrat socialists”. Sound benign? They aren’t. Neither is their mission.
These folks haven’t come to VT for maple syrup, to ski, or to buy a place to get away from the rat race. They are installing Communism and the DAVOS one-world-order here – with the aid of a bunch of aged hippies & young hipsters who wouldn’t recognize the enemy until they have been thrown half-starved into the gulag. We are facing war; a war for the survival of the USA – regardless of which State you hang your Maga hat.
