IRASBURG — A tractor-trailer carrying 20,000 pounds of frozen food crashed Saturday morning on Vermont Route 58 East in Irasburg, sending the driver to the hospital.
Emergency crews responded shortly after 9 a.m. to the scene near address #2035, where they found the Price Chopper truck on its side off the roadway.
The driver, who has not been identified, was transported to North Country Hospital in Newport with lower left back pain, according to emergency radio communications.
Irasburg Fire Department requested police assistance to close the road while they assessed the situation. Officials reported the frozen food cargo needed to be unloaded from the overturned vehicle.
A heavy wrecker was requested to remove the tractor-trailer. Vermont State Police arrived on scene to assist with the investigation.
