In a separate incident in Royalton, local police are looking into the death of Jeremy Digby, 45, whose body was discovered on family-owned property Friday evening around 6:30 p.m. Digby had been reported missing prior to the discovery. The cause of death is under investigation.
Also last week, Ian Apfel, 19, of Barre, turned himself in to police on Friday, June 20. He is accused of attempting to sexually assault a female under the age of 16 in Duxbury earlier this year. The charges stem from a Vermont State Police investigation launched in April. Apfel was cited to appear in court on June 26.
In Windham County, a Brattleboro man is facing multiple charges following an assault and robbery investigation. Jason R. Smith, 50, allegedly assaulted and robbed Jack Connolly, 79, of Jamaica, on June 14 along Route 100. After evading police and allegedly stealing a vehicle in Dummerston, Smith was located and arrested in Brattleboro on June 16. These cases remain active, and authorities continue to seek public assistance in several of the investigations.
