In an alarming incident Monday March 18, the Shelburne Post Office in Vermont was struck by a car for the second time in a matter of months. Shockingly, the damage from the previous crash in December had not yet been repaired when this latest collision occurred.

Video footage captured the harrowing moment when the vehicle crashed through the wall, which housed several PO Boxes, intensifying the destruction caused.

The crash forced the post office to close its doors for a day, as maintenance workers swiftly boarded up the damaged front section on Monday. Despite the lingering damage, the post office managed to resume operations and reopened to the public on Tuesday.

This unfortunate event raises serious concerns about the structural integrity of the post office and the safety of its staff and visitors. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accidents, aiming to address the underlying issues and reinforce the building’s infrastructure to prevent further mishaps.

The recurrence of these car crashes in such a short span of time has left the Shelburne community bewildered. Questions are being raised about the effectiveness of preventative measures and the urgency in repairing damages from the previous incident.

Efforts are now underway to expedite repairs and ensure uninterrupted mail services for the community. However, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the need to maintain infrastructure and implement robust safety measures to safeguard public buildings from such accidents in the future.

  1. i guess a jersey barrier in front of the entrance probably would not work/// should take about an hour to set up///

  2. I have lost count of how many times our local market, Kingdom Market, has been crashed into. People are so careless. The new owner of the market has been warned about this but he has put in new front doors right where most of the crashes have occurred. No bollards up yet. It is just a matter of time. Hope no one gets hurt.
