Balint, Welch received campaign funds from PAC to which alleged shooter made donation

Following Saturday evening’s unsuccessful assassination attempt on Donald Trump, both U.S. senators from Vermont issued public statements decrying the act of violence.
Neither senator used the term “assassination.”
“Political violence is absolutely unacceptable. I wish Donald Trump, and anyone else who may have been hurt, a speedy recovery,” Sanders said.
“I am thankful former President Trump is safe, and I am appreciative of the Secret Service and law enforcement who responded so quickly. This is a horrifying moment for our democracy. We must condemn violence always – it is never acceptable,” Welch said.
“Details of this incident are emerging and I am closely monitoring the situation. My prayers and hope for a full recovery go out to former President Trump, and anyone who was harmed at his rally in Pennsylvania today.”
Ditto Rep. Becca Balint: “I’m shocked, saddened and deeply concerned about the violence that took place at the Trump rally yesterday. I unequivocally condemn political violence of any kind. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
The week before, however, both senators made highly visible, public statements intensely critical of Trump, calling him a ‘tyrant’ (Welch), and ‘the most dangerous president in the history of this country’ (Sanders).
Welch made his comment July 10 in an op-ed in the Washington Post -, calling for President Joseph Biden to withdraw from the race for president. “I have great respect for President Biden. He saved our country from a tyrant,” the Vermont Senator wrote in an op-ed written by him for publication in the country’s most influential political newspaper.
On July 7, Sen. Bernie Sanders appeared on CBS’s ‘Face the Nation,’ a Sunday morning talk show with a large national audience. “President Biden can clearly defeat Donald Trump, the most dangerous president in the history of this country,” he told host Bob Costa.
Both quotes are linked and cited with context in a July 11 news story in Vermont Daily Chronicle.
Meanwhile, a review of the Progressive Turnout Project – a Democratic Political Action Committee to which alleged wouldbe assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks donated a small sum when he was a teenager – show the PAC gave significant campaign contributions to both Becca Balint and Peter Welch.
The Progressive Turnout Project is a legal fundraising organization, and Crooks’ donation does not necessarily impugn its actions, nor its recipients.
According to OpenSecrets.org, Balint received $2500, Welch $10,000. Many other candidates for the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate received the same or similar amounts.
According to its website, “Progressive Turnout Project is dedicated to mobilizing the Democratic Party and defending democracy. Our voter turnout initiatives are solely focused on motivating Democrats to exercise their right to vote. We have ruthlessly focused on the field since 2015. In the 2022 electoral cycle, we pivoted to emphasize lean, innovative voter contact approaches that allowed us to connect with inconsistent Democratic voters at their doors, through personal networks and via mail sent to their homes, through smart, cost-effective strategies.”

Luckily at least Welch has withdrawn support from the guy who talked about “putting Trump in the bullseye.”
In all the years that Welch has supposedly been representing Vermonters, strongly suggesting that Biden not run for another term is about the only thing he’s done that makes any sense.
Ms Balint is rather an also ran in the expressed sadness and grief realm.
And Bernie? His years of hateful rhetoric, demonizing Trump and all things MAGA, has finally been pulled up short when it’s realized that his denigration of the Republican candidate for President may have given a mentally ill creep the impetus needed to take a shot.
Vermont’s congressional delegation is not the best or brightest representation our State could have…

Are Vermonters oppressing themselves by their own choices of Voting for the likes of Peter Welch, Bernie Sanders and Becca Balint? Clearly, they are tyrants along with the majority of those in the present Vermont Legislature.
The People of Vermont have no Representation. Vermont has typical self-loving, politicians who are drunk and blind on their own distorted view of power with no self-awareness.
How many destructive policies have to be passed before Vermonters are able to see the swift erosion of any sustainable or affordable way for future generations to live in the State of Vermont?
Vermont Voters need to WAKE UP and Vote for Freedom-loving, Constitution-loving Candidates.
They are what you call. TWO-FACED but no surprise there they follow the democratic/progressive party rules
That brings up the question of, why aren’t progressives required to seek election under a progressive party and not a wing of the democratic party? The progressives stole the democratic party and old-time democrats think they are voting for old time democrats not progressives. They see a D/P behind a name on the ballot and vote like their daddy did not knowing how bad the progressive policies are hurting them. It’s all done by the sleight of hand to keep things quiet. Old time democrats and their children need to wake up to the reality that the democrat party they knew is dead and gone.
Given the statements by these careless leftists, I state that the blood that poured out of the bullet wound to Trumps head, leads directly to their hands!
Vote them out of office, as they do not unite the people ,they divide, in a thoughtless, and dangerous manner, unbefitting their office.

Sanders has made a career catering to underachieving fools that believe anything he utters. The man has ZERO credibility. This being one more time he’s responding to PC sentiment. So Burnie, why is it this week Trump’s not destroying democracy? Feel no guilt for perhaps being the zealot that pushed madman over the edge? You make me ashamed to live in Vermont.
Sanders, Welch, Balint, if you have voted for these charlatans, you have very bad judgement. Watch as they try to cover their backsides after calling Trump all kinds of names to incite the useful idiots on the left.
Yes, the right has some too, but the left follows the Rules for Radicals play book. I think it’s rule number 5 that instructs the followers to shame and humiliate their political opponents and to do it consistently. Isn’t this what we’ve seen for all these years from people like the above and the liberal corporate media? We have had enough of these fake politicians to last a lifetime. The only reason that Vermont liberals hate Donald Trump is because it’s been pounded into their heads by a concerted effort to connaturally bash, shame, lie and call him names.
Ask a liberal to explain why they hate DJT. You will get all the same talking points from the alphabet liberal news channels but, not one good reason. How can you hate the phrase, “Make America Great Again” especially after 3.6 years of democratic/progressive failure and the ruination of our country?

If anyone can’t see where blue policies bring us after watching our state and city and country turn in to a garbage pail under blue leadership then I feel sorry for you. Don’t price us out of our homes and continue to make our community dangerous with your irresponsible vote! A blue vote is a vote for crime and immoral debt being passed on to the next generation, poverty and irresponsible and out of control spending, propping up special interest groups and devastating our business communities. Very well stated. As the saying goes, “Get enough fools on your side and you can be elected to anything.” If you are of limited intellect, people like Sanders sound good to you. But people living in the real world know you have to get up in the morning and put your boots on to get ahead. Waiting for charlatans like Welch and Sanders to bamboozle you is a dead end.
And we can’t leave out the third biggest hypocrite and liar, DEI selected for our lone house seat — Balint, another government grifter funded by Open Society and other NGO/dark money sources.

I’ll run for office, but I’m poor… and, while I have zero arrest record, both major parties would find a great many “issues” about me.
My only real issue is I friggen tell it like it is. That’s cost me many jobs, many relationships (even with my family) and many friends. And yet, like Trump, I’m still standing. I fear no evil. None. Zip. Nada. (Not even commenters here b/c I never read replies.)
I’ve been a fearless outspoken person all my life and have been paying for it since I was born. My grandparents came here from a communist country and I refuse to let that crap happen here if my mouth can help it.
Oh well… popularity was never my strong suit. Popularity comes with many pay-backs.
Consider running – we need conservatives to run. It’s hard because the VT press will come out against you and your own republicans will expect you to be perfect or reject you but it is worth a try! We very much need people to step up.

And no experience.
But I can understand why normal people would despise being politicians, not just running for office.

Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch along with Becca Blaint votes for gun control every time a bill is brought to their perspective houses of government. All three vote against a citizen’s right to keep and bear arms when the 2nd Amendment forbids them form infringing on that right. Then they have the audacity to call Donald Trump a tyrant. Vermont delegation, I realize it’s slightly off topic however we already know how you feel about President Trump. Any clear date on when the Montpelier post office might possibly re-open, or are we just waiting for a red carpet event?

My bet is the algorithms, AI bots, and Langley are picking up key words and phrases indicating the magma has reached the higher chamber of the electorate.
