Sen. Sanders’ attempt to condemn U.S. weapons sales to Israel was overwhelming rejected 80-19 Wednesday. Independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, faced strong bipartisan opposition on his proposed resolution that attempted to block the sale of tank rounds, mortar rounds, and bomb guidance kits for use in Gaza.
The resolutions were defeated by significant bipartisan margins, with 78, 79, and 80 senators voting against the proposal.
“As I have said many, many times: Israel had the absolute right to respond to that horrific Hamas attack, as any other country would. I don’t think anybody here in the United States Senate disagrees with that,” said Sanders. “But Prime Minister Netanyahu’s extremist government has not simply waged war against Hamas. It has waged an all-out war against the Palestinian people.”
Facing bipartisan opposition, many Democrats shared their reasons for not supporting the resolution including Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada who wrote on X that she “will always stand proudly to support our strongest ally.”
Nevada Democrat Senator Jacky Rosen, shared similar thoughts, stating that “Israel is our ally in the Middle East & we must do everything we can to help it defend itself.”
Republicans unanimously opposed the resolutions.
Yesterday, November 21, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, for war crimes including the use of starvation as a method of warfare and directing attacks against the civilian population. The ICC also issued a warrant for the arrest of Mohammed Deif, Hamas’s military chief, for crimes against humanity, including murder, hostage taking, and sexual violence.
Senator Sanders wrote in response to the arrest warrants:
“The ICC charges are well-founded…Israel had a right to defend itself against Hamas, but it did not have the right to wage an all-out war against the Palestinian people. In Gaza, over 44,000 people have been killed and more than 104,000 have been injured…Netanyahu, Gallant, and Deif have all launched indiscriminate attacks against civilians, and all three have caused unimaginable suffering within the civilian population. If the world does not uphold international law, we will descend into further barbarism. I agree with the decisions of the ICC.”
Israel maintains their stance that destroying Hamas is essential to prevent attacks similar to the Oct. 7 massacre.

Yes, this is Vermont’s barking buffoon spewing his rhetoric again, Vermont’s lead carpetbagger needs to keep his mouth shut, all he knows is can I get five minutes of air time.
Vermont, we deserve better !!
Thank you, CHenry! Couldn’t have been said it any better.
(Barking buffoon and carpet bagger. Hilarious adjectives and alliteration)
I totally agree. I was very surprised, and distressed, that Gerald Malloy didn’t receive more votes against Barnie. I didn’t expect him to win, but he campaigned tirelessly all over the state. It is distressing because the numbers indicate that there are far more Progressive leaning than I expected. Oh-as I’m typing this I recall hearing some true Dems supportive of Bernie.
I guess Bernie missed the part of the murder and kidnap by Hamas of over 1000 Israelis . ( Just as Joe missed the kidnap and murder of American citizens) Netanyahu has got it figured out there is a price to pay for crimes against his people. By the way ( at the risk of offending many Vermonters sensitivity , these were the same people- I know not all of them- dancing in the streets on 9/11.)
Advise Bernie it may be a bit of time before they reach out and try to be terrorists again.
It’s a tough would beyond Vermont’s border. Time for Bernie to figure this out. Classic case for term limits if there ever was one- that is where the warrant should be issued for crimes.
It’s hard to believe that Vermont just re-elected this fool again.
Bernie Sanders is supporting the globalist International Criminal Court (ICC) cabal over United States sovereignty, despite the fact that the U.S. does not recognize ICC authority. That Bernie Sanders is describing the ICC charges against Netanyahu as ‘well founded’ indicates that he (Sanders) does not believe in United States sovereignty. So much for Sanders’ oath of office to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution. Sanders circumstance is curiously reminiscent of Benedict Arnold in 1779.
I will be equally curious to learn how our Governor and Lt. Governor fall on this ICC issue. Especially with regard to long-time democrat and newly minted Republican convert, John Rodgers, who recently appointed fellow democrats, Elizabeth Brown, his chief of staff, and James Ehlers, as his ‘special advisor’. In his previous political life, Ehlers was an advisor to Bernie Sanders.
We must face the facts. Bernie Sanders is a devout socialist and supporter of the elitist global new world order. Individual liberty and freedom are, by definition, secondary tenants to Sanders’ sensibilities. As for Phil Scott and John Rodgers, the proof will be in the pudding. In the meantime, we will be well advised to keep our friends close and our enemies closer.
Just sayin’.
Do Vermont citizens who voted for this Senator have no shame? Your hippie/peace loving brand continues to fade. Sanders is an embarrassment on so many levels. His supporters are the same people who claim “tolerance and no hate” but support a Senator who seems to be very OK supporting terrorists who murder innocent civilians. Do the right thing Vermonters and figure out how to recall this washed up Statist.
Bernie needs to put on a military uniform and actually go out there and see what the world is truly about. He must rely on CNN, CNBC and others media outlets for his info. He would be well advised to learn that peace MUST be fought for as it isn’t free. Ask one of us *waves hand* who fought for it.
Despite his truthful rant last week about how the democrats lost the middle class, Bernie is now expressing his delayed Trump Derangement Syndrome…
On October 7, 2023 Israel was attacked by unspeakable evil from Hamas including participation from civilians in Gaza (they are taught to hate Israel from infancy). Israel has a right to defend itself and its people from barbarians, who only want to annihilate them. Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis are all proxies of Iran. Iran calls Israel the little satan and the United States the big satan. It is known throughout the world the hatred Iran and its proxies have for Israel (also for the U.S.). Israel is not only defending itself and people, it’s also defending the United States from evil. This kind of evil does not want Israel to exist, that is their only goal in life – they live for destruction. Pray for the peace of Israel. Pray for America. 🙏🇮🇱🇺🇸🙏
God’s Word: Genesis 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 13:14-15 “14 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.”
Zechariah 2:8 “For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.”
Bernie is as hopeless as the people who have voted for him since he was mayor. Duh!
Regardless of your views on the conflict, should US taxpayer dollars fund Israel and a war in the middle east? Is it really the position of ‘America First’ to send money and weapons to Israel when we have sooo many problems here? The contradiction between the ‘America First’ position on ending war and this current, and likely future, support for this war is glaring and clearly shows what an unprincipled position it is.
Another false dichotomy? While the U.S. sent $18 billion in weapons to Israel for its self-defense, it also sent a $90 billion bailout to Iran so Iran can support terrorist organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.
The point is that it is the U.S. RINO neocons (like Liz and Dick Cheney, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, and others in the current Biden/Harris administration) and the military-industrial complex folks that want these conflicts to continue. Not the ‘America First’ folks. Not the Trump administration.
Yes. There is a contradiction, the people perpetrating it have just been voted out of office, and if allowed to proceed unfettered by gross generalizations like the above, the Trump administration and America First folks will bring back the peace and prosperity they started in 2016.
Who set up and supported Hamas???????? Only one sign was in my yard and that was DEPLOY MALLOY. Remember the three buildings that blew up in New YORK City and fell in their own footprint on 911. Now who set that operation up?????
