The homeless Burlington man who has had more than 1,850 contacts with police in recent years, is back behind bars after he trespassed and was threatening violence at a city church on Sunday, according to Burlington Police.
A state judge ordered Michael P. Reynolds Jr., 47, held for lack of $200 bail on misdemeanor charges of unlawful trespass and disorderly conduct at the First Unitarian Universalist Society Church at the corner of Pearl and Church Streets in downtown Burlington.
Reynolds, a thorn in the side of the criminal justice and mental health systems in Vermont, was jailed at the Northwest State Correctional Facility in St. Albans Town. He is due for arraignment on Tuesday in Vermont Superior Court in Burlington.
Reynolds is the man that caused Progressive Party Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak to impose a Gag Order on Police Chief Jon Murad releasing public information about criminal arrests and crimes in Burlington.
While the arrest information is all public by law, Mulvaney-Stanak ordered all press releases to be sent to her office for review and possible editing before they are distributed to the news media.
The police department has been using the same press release policy since 2011 without a problem, but State’s Attorney Sarah George reached out recently to the new Mayor asking her to muzzle the chief, officials said.
The latest news release about Reynolds arrest on Sunday said it was approved by the “Mayor’s Office (Erin Jacobson),” who is the chief of staff.
The Sunday incident unfolded as a caller reported that Reynolds, who had been banned previously from the church, had returned unlawfully to the property, police said.
“Minutes later the caller called back and advised that Reynolds had again returned to the property and is refusing to leave,” Detective Lt. Richard Weinisch said.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found Reynolds trespassing, he said.
“Witnesses described Reynolds’ threatening behavior which created fear amongst the patrons of the place of worship,” Weinisch said.
Officers arrested Reynolds and transported him back to the police station where he was processed for unlawful trespass and disorderly conduct and taken to jail, police said.

Would it be cheaper for the citizens of Burlington to hire a full time baby sitter for this nut ?
The mayor of Burlington can house and babysit him.
T. That was not meant to be tongue in cheek. I’m dead serious ! How much money have the citizens of Burlington blown, and how much more do the powers that be in that sad excuse for a city, expect to have to blow, before this miscreant seriously hurts someone, and they have to take him seriously ? I just hope it’s not too late for somebody.
Progressive believe in jungle justice when they turn their heads away from problematic issues. They hope that something happens, and then they can march over whatever it was that happened.
Now he is menacing the denizens of Burlington’s quintessential moonbat church, so there may be some passing consideration paid to the threat now.
Near-Miss Emma Stanek just put a rush order in for more therapy dogs, crayons, by the numbers coloring books, cuddly teddy bears, and unlicensed counselors…her plan to eradicate the litany of failures she created for criminal justice reform. And a ream of paper to issue more gag orders and rewrite press releases.
But it works so well in California …….
In Nazi Germany the press was controlled. In Russia the press is controlled. In Burlington the press is controlled.
Mike Reynolds holds the justice system in contempt. He is proud of the fact he holds the record for the most interactions with the police. He is not capable of reforming. Shelters kick him out. In a way he is like the character in Mark 5:1. RGB is correct in that our state’s attorney and like minded judges are hoping something happens to him to take him off the chessboard without having to permanently incarcerate him. So Burlington, you’re going to have to put up with Mike Reynolds.
Jesus is the answer.
“Reynolds, a thorn in the side of the criminal justice and mental health systems in Vermont..” Mr. Reynolds is not a thorn by any means. He’s the end product of a corrupt, fraudulent, failing system. He is a catalyst to show the world how corrupt, fraudulent, and failed our system actually is currently. The thorn belongs to our judiciary, our legislature, and the bureaucratic chaos and thievery of the human services syndicate. The thorn is of their own creation, their own design and self-inserted. Mr. Reynolds making a mockery of them and the system is actually a public service – he’s not the only one – he’s just getting the most press currently.
Oh, so it was Sarah George who inspired Mayor Stank to forbid the chief from speaking the truth….
Not that Mayor Stank is incapable of coming up with this insanity all on her own, however, should we be at all surprised that Sarah George Soros—who went to law school for the express purpose of “dismantling the criminal legal system”— would foment and incite Mayor Stank to such a reprehensible decree? It is Mayor Stank and Sarah George Soros who ought to be prosecuted for obstruction justice and hindering public safety.
