In the wake of reporter Mike Donoghue VDC breaking the story about Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak’s Meal Train in VDC, the city, and the state, have been listening for this newly elected official to give her explanation. An opportunity, as many have pointed out, which could have been a PR godsend for her nascent administration. Instead, she shocked even some of her dedicated supporters with her response. Below are a few of the hundreds of comments about the situation which have appeared on Reddit already.

Is this thing with Mulvany-Stank just a smoke screen for the crap our representatives are doing under the golden dome? GET REAL folks
Interesting that the meal train was reported to have been organized by a lobbyist and yet the new mayor doesn’t see this as a conflict or interest or inappropriate. With the number of elderly and low income families that are facing food insecurity why would the mayor & her partner (with a household income of over $200,000 be in need of gift cards to restaurants? That she has a family and works long hours is nothing new to many working women – if it was going to be such a hardship for her perhaps she shouldn’t have accepted the position. Personally, I think this is inappropriate and that she has gotten so defensive makes me think that she is well aware that it is but she just cannot think of a way to put a good spin on it. When in doubt – act insulted and get defensive…. yea, that’ll work.
When you have the impervious protection of intersectionality, ANY criticism can be dismissed as bias and hate…especially in this case during the sacred month of “pride”.
The Truth is she’s not the only one enjoying the spoils of war against humanity. To save face, they’ll ride her a bit like a rented mule, use her unfortunate lack of judgement to spin around to cover their own dirty deeds done not so cheap. Any distraction is a beneficial distraction to grifter nation.
Like all demonrats and progressives, she sees nothing wrong here, trust me. She didn’t even consider that this scheme might be uncovered. Now she’s playing the “oppressed working mother” card… “Woe is me”….
And that’s typical, unfortunately. It’s how these folks roll. They have a complete lack of ever learning to think critically. 1. Don’t see original problem or expect to keep it secret. 2. Get caught. 3. Fail to understand why it’s a “big deal”. 4. React without critically thinking about what the people’s response to that reaction might be. 5. Be amazed at the blowback for making a bad situation worse. 6. Blame and/or trash the honest reporter and/or their employer. 7. When all else fails, censor said honest reporter and employer. 8. Rinse and repeat.
And for what? Taking a large “donation” from Big Pharma under the table? Allowing China to build a “police station” in downtown Burlington? No, for not understanding the first rule of working for any government organization – Don’t accept “gifts” worth more than $25 or $50 or whatever the number is.
So right away, this gives me even less inkling to give this Mayor the benefit of the doubt. Where is her sense of ethics? I mean, seriously – if she got nailed on this, which any high school kid should understand, what’s going to happen next? And trust me, since she apparently has no critical thinking skills, there *will* be a next. And another next, And another.
Remember Liberal Rule 1: Rules for thee, but not for me.
It’s pride month. Pride leadeth one right over the cliff. Pride, I’m right and couldn’t possibly be wrong. Pride = Narcissist.
We are teaching our children to be prideful, which is a terrible thing.
We should just make it Narcissist Month, or Narc month for Short.
Typical socialist play list, run on everyone is equal but in reality it’s gimme gimme.
Just think, the voters in Burlington elected her to serve in the legislature. The judgement of the voters throughout the state seems to be way off. Without naming other names, we have seen the downfall of Vermont ever since the progressives forced their way into the democratic party and all of our institutions such as education and nongovernment organizations. And to this the hoard of lobbyist representing the so-called Green Energy scam.
Then there’s the issue of allowing college students who are temporary residents of the state and dependents of the parents who live in other states, to vote in our elections. They could get absentee ballots from their home state if they wish to vote. What do they have invested in our state to be allowed to vote here.
The last session of the legislature suggests that there are many more like the new mayor (Queen) of the Queen city who are more about themselves and a failed ideology, progressivism! If you don’t believe me, look at all the empty store fronts and businesses driven out of business. Look at how many people are employed by and dependent on the state government. Look at all the new CONTROL laws and restrictions that we are all supposed to know and all the new taxes and fees driving people to leave.
There can be a correct to all this damage and it is to vote for new leadership of the state. The parent company of Sun Common has filed bankruptcy. The Green New Deal is a scam, climate change is a scam and so are EVs that need to be subsidized by taxpayer. When is enough, enough? The new mayor is a glaring look into the future unless people wake up and stop being Woke!
It will be enough when citizens stop voting for these inept fools.
