Vermont State Police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts reported Dec. 19 in the town of Charlotte. In one of the photos released by VSP, a thief is seen walking off with what appear to be holiday shopping bags.

According to police, troopers from the Williston Barracks received multiple reports of individuals breaking into cars and stealing two vehicles. One of the stolen vehicles has since been recovered.

The incidents occurred at several residences off Greenbush Road, where suspects allegedly searched vehicles for valuables and took items from cars that were left unlocked. Investigators believe the individuals were testing car doors to see if they were unsecured before entering.

State police are urging residents to take precautions, including removing valuables from plain sight and locking vehicles at all times, regardless of location.

Anyone with information that could help identify the individuals involved is asked to contact Trooper Shamir Exantus at the Williston Barracks at (802) 878-7111. Anonymous tips may also be submitted online through the Vermont State Police tip portal.
