An anonymous postcard critical of incumbent GOP chair Paul Dame’s fundraising record was mailed from Hartford, Connecticut this week and received by Republicans who will be voting in the Saturday, November 8 election.

Photos of both sides of the post card were sent to VDC this morning by a Chittenden County delegate to the state meeting in Burlington on Saturday.. Also, vice-chair candidate Rep. Zachary Harvey of Castleton – also a voting delegate – said he doesn’t know who sent it, but confirmed that he received it as well.

It is not known who sent the bulk-mailed postcard, nor to whom specifically it was sent. The postmark reads Hartford Connecticut, which is home to a USPS regional bulk mailing center.

The front of the post card reads:

“The Vermont GOP can’t run on pennies. Time for more than just change!”

On the flip side, the postcard shows chairman fundraising since 2005 – minus the “Obama era recession.” It notes that Dame raised (in round numbers) only $50,460 last year, compared to about a quarter-million dollars in several two-year periods between 2005-2016.

It also states that as of October this year there’s only $27,183 cash on hand and that since January 1st Dame has been paid $61,939.

The postcard concludes “it is time for a change” and includes a QR code that sends scanners to Federal elections commission government data.

VDC has emailed both Dame and Ingalls to comment on the postcard and will publish their responses when received.

  1. A new broom sweeps clean.
The old broom the witches fly off into the sunset on…
    Time for new blood.

  2. Interestingly, whoever sent this appears to have used confidential information for personal gain — including the personal addresses of each delegate. It raises concerns about how else that information might be used, much like the incident involving leaked financial data. Not exactly the kind of person I’d trust to lead a party.

    • Agreed. I’d like to know who the coward/s are behind this who didn’t have the guts to sign their names to this anonymous post card.

    • There’s a link on the postcard for the FEC data. Legally, financials need to be reported. It is public information, not confidential. I do agree that whoever sent it should take ownership of it on the postcard. I think candidates must be allowed access to delegate’s contact information. I received a lot of phone calls prior to the 2023 state GOP reorganization from candidates to vote for them. Delegate contact information is shared internally, however. It is not public information.

  3. I am assuming that the information on the post card is correct. Sadly, I am not surprised. I am one of several Republicans in Vt. that has not contributed to VTGOP for several years now due several concerns about the leadership, or lack thereof. I recently saw a Republican friend that had been a very active member in the past. As I had suspected, she confirmed that she is no longer at all active as well. We shared the same concerns.

  4. Is this true and accurate, that is the most important question.

Who sent it? Does it matter?

I’ve sent emails to members, got no where. If we can’t admit that we are a failed party, we can’t build. We have to be self reflective enough to say, hey, this isn’t working, we need a new plan.

I wish I’d have sent it, but I didn’t, though I have been asking the question, when are we going to get sick of losing? But everybody says we’ve won.

Just like people saying I don’t like the way this was sent, they didn’t put their name on it so they can’t be trusted.
    Is it TRUE……

If it’s true, the decision is self evident, which is what people in the party are so defensive about.

If one post card can make the change, and it’s true…then let the truth ring loud and clear.
