The last installment of poll results from CFV show that Vermonters side with the Governor in recent disagreements and nearly one in three feel unsafe in their community.
Montpelier, Vermont – Today Campaign for Vermont Prosperity (CFV) released the final batch of questions along with the full results of the November poll.
“We embarked on this project to explore Vermonter’s thoughts on a number of recent conflicts between the Governor and Legislature,” said CFV President Pat McDonald. “Consistently we have seen, at least on this set of issues, that the Legislature should be working more closely with the Governor and administration.”
When asked how safe respondents felt in their community, 30% felt unsafe. Residents of Chittenden and Rutland counties and families with children were especially likely to express safety concerns.
Respondents also expressed unhappiness with the recently passed payroll tax, which was used to expand childcare credits to upper middle-class families. Even more unpopular was the Legislature’s effort to increase their own pay and benefits with two-thirds of Vermonters saying they would be much less likely to vote for a candidate who supported such a measure.
Finally, Vermonters signaled support for a system to limit state spending to the rate of inflation or population growth – similar to a system Colorado has in place. Two-thirds of respondents had a favorable opinion of such a policy.
CFV board member Ben Kinsley stated that he hopes “legislators take this opportunity to work towards policies that regular Vermonters support instead of catering to the fringes of their respective parties.”
The results released today can be found at CampaignForVermont.org/2023poll.
CFV is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization dedicated to the vision of a more prosperous Vermont and a growing middle class. They seek to accomplish these goals by reconnecting Vermonters to their government and advocating for more transparent policymaking.

we go from government to non profit sucking more fees or tax payers money will not end until non profits go broke
I certainly no longer feel safe in this state. I have contacted the governor’s office repeatedly about people being spit on by woke children and stalked and harassed, and one senior who was attacked for having an American flag on his vintage truck during a Veterans Day parade. The governor could care less. No response as none of the victims were a minority.
You should politely remind the Governor that American patriots are quickly becoming the most oppressed minority in Vermont.
The buzzword “safe” is another means to get into people’s heads with political witchcraft. Remember “safe and effective” as thousands of people drop dead and disability rates skyrocket. Take away our right to own guns because guns pose a threat to public “safety.” Yet, skyrocketing gun violence is the result of an unhinged human holding a gun. Political operatives have their marching orders. If this war on humanity continues, the propaganda information lawfare warfare, unabated, we will descend into civil war sooner rather than later. It is what they want – the great awakening is happening and they will do whatever necessary to stop it – be prepared.
Never safe to be surrounded by leftists. I miss rural, rugged, independent, old fashioned Vermont. It definitely is not safe here.
As with any survey, it depends on how the questions are asked. There are many venues for “feeling unsafe”. It could be crime, politics, economic or regulatory “danger” that people are experiencing. Keep in mind that, based on voting outcomes, the majority of Vermont residents (I hesitate to use the term “Vermonters” these days”) are liberal weenies, and uneasiness, a sense of victimhood and feeling oppressed are a badge of belonging and identification with that ideological framework. Also, public officials will use public “unease” to promote additional “protections” for us, like restrictions on weapon ownership and use and telling us which forms of transportation, home appliances and methods of heating should be regulated “for our own good”. Thinking like Ronald Reagan, I must admit that the reason I may feel generally unsafe is because of an overbearing government, particularly Vermont’s legislature.
Did this poll include people who feel “unsafe” when their pronouns are misused? 🤔
Only 1 in 3 ?
It’s not bad enough yet folks. Things need to get significantly worse before the average voter in this state starts voting for something different. That said with the government control of media, that will not happen (because they will let you know how bad it is) until everyone has been personally affected.
Turn off mass media, cut your cable, and most irrational fears will go away
When our police are powerless to stop homeless encampments or stopping uninspected and unregistered vehicles, arrest shoplifters and are under constant assault by our social activist justice system then we have chaos, anarchy and civil unrest…people will feel unsafe. This is why no Vermonters want to shop in burlington.
In the City of Rutland corruption runs rampant. When Police Chief Kilcullen and Professional Standards Commander Sam Delpha lie to State’s Atty. Ian Sullivan and Sullivan participates in the lie along with Sean Sargeant the Chair of the Police Commission we are in big trouble.
I have a video of the assault that took place and they decided to lie about the attack. It is a violation in the state of Vermont to lie to a member of law enforcement.
They claim the young man was sitting on the ground and we WALKED into each other and somehow it injured my eye. Then they claim they have no idea what object hit my eye when it is clearly a cell phone in his hand when he attacked me.
I have videos exposing the lies of the chief and of my civil rights being violated.
I have emailed every member of the Police commission and the Board of Alderman. I have spoken to the Mayor and the City Attorney.
None of them will pursue any action in spite of the fact I have videos exposing many lies and have attempted to make them available to everyone, but no one is interested enough in doing the right thing and view them and take action.
I was attacked in Rutland City Hall by City Clerk Tracy Kapusta while attempting to gather PUBLIC INFORMATION pertaining to lies told by Sean Sargeant the chair of the police commission. She never identified herself and stood in the hallway screaming loudly as I was speaking to Barb Spaulding. Barb is the person who records minutes for the police commission. I was trying to see why evidence I presented during meetings was not appearing under the minutes posted on the city website.
Kapusta was screaming I spent too much time in city hall and that I had to leave immediately. Never having met her I asked who she was and under what authority would she violate my Civil Rights. At that point I told her I was taking a picture of her and she spun around and quickly walked down the hallway. Within minutes three police officers showed up and violated my civil rights by stopping me from receiving the public information I was seeking.
I was never charged with any crime. and to date I don’t believe Tracy Kapusta has been charged for causing a disturbance at City Hall.
I attempted to find our who made the phone call for police to show up that day and I was met with a stone wall. No one seemed to know. I later found out during a visit with the city atty. that it was Chief Kilcullen When I asked him at a Police Commission Meeting, he denied knowing anything about it. I have my conversation from the City Atty. on video where she makes that statement.
I was assaulted while attending a home inspection with the city inspector and his assistant. I was recording this inspection where a couple of SQUATTERS had taken over my sister in laws vacant property. While I was recording a young man sprang up and stepped towards me jamming his cellphone into my left eye injuring my eye. That is how I ended up having a video of the assault by this young man.
I attended the Public Safety Meeting on October 25, 2023 and filmed most of it. I spoke at this meeting after Alderwoman Sharon Davis wanted to stop me. I have a video of what I said and not a word shows up in these minutes. I stated that after a year I still do not know the name of the person that attacked me and injured my eye.
I was the only member of the public in attendance, and they never mention what I had to say about SQUATTERS in spite of the fact the committee never brought up the subject of SQUATTERS.
After the meeting I spoke with Chair of the Alderman Michael Talbott (President BOA). I explained that I had mailed several pages of evidence of lies by the Police Dept and Police Commission and had spoken with the mayor and City Atty. I went to speak at the October 16, 2023, Board of Adleman meeting and submitted evidence in writing. There is a video from that evening of my statement online as I spoke to the alderman.
These are the portion of the minutes from that meeting where I am mentioned. I would encourage everyone to view the vide from that meeting.
Richard Ley from Walker Mountain Road in Clarendon read a statement regarding an incident that occurred in 2022. Mr. Ley requested that the Aldermen investigate the accusations outlined in the statement.
I asked Michael why I had not heard anything from anyone. I reminded him that I placed a call to him a year ago regarding the corruption in our city government. He responded saying you need to hire an attorney to review the City Charter. I said If I hire an attorney, it will be to go after the corruption in the City of Rutland.
These are the minutes from the Public Safety Committe on October 25,2023.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES
Alderwoman Davis; Public Safety Meeting; October 25, 2023
Alderwoman Davis read the Public Safety Committee report from October 25, 2023. The discussion of the meeting was squatters, garbage, furniture, and unregistered/uninspected vehicles. The committee felt that enforcement was necessary to maintain the quality of life in the neighborhoods to deter crime. The Building and Zoning Department stated their frustration of
being unable at times to locate the property owners as they are absentee landlords. A discussion was held as to how we obtain more information/contacts when closing occurs. A motion was made and seconded (Davis, Gillam) to refer to the City Attorney to research means to seek and mandate contact information from property owners during real estate transactions. Motion
I am in no way anti police or in favor of defunding the police.
I do believe that lying by police officers to the public and to the State’s Atty should be prosecuted according to our laws.
And what do we do when State’s Atty. Ian Sullivan participates in the lies and refuses prosecution in spite of the fact there is video exposing every one of them as liars.
People who violate the constitutional rights of the public should be held accountable for their actions.
Without law and order we are doomed as can be witnessed by the crime in Burlington and Rutland, VT.
We pay plenty for these services and we should expect public savants to be held accountable.
I have videos and paperwork exposing these criminals in our system in Rutland, Vt.
