HYDE PARK – A Hyde Park woman reportedly upset over the slow speed in a drug investigation into her tenant, has been ordered to appear in criminal court on Monday afternoon for threatening to kill a Lamoille County deputy sheriff, officials said.

Elizabeth Masson-Monteith, 41, is expected in Vermont Superior Court to face charges of criminal threatening and disorderly conduct, Vermont State Police said.

Masson-Monteith reportedly threatened to shoot and kill Sgt. Jason Perry, 42, of the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department, state police said.

Lamoille County Sheriff Roger Marcoux said Masson-Monteith was unhappy with his department over a drug-related investigation and that deputies were not doing enough to help her evict the tenant from her property on Vermont 15.

State Trooper Keith Cote said the investigation began Friday and it soon determined that Masson-Monteith over the course of the last several months had continually contacted Sgt. Perry and other members of the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department even after she was asked to stop.

Cote said the superior court approved an Extreme Risk Protection Order on Saturday and state troopers removed several firearms from Masson-Monteith’s possession.

Masson-Monteith was subsequently arrested and issued a court citation for criminal threatening and disorderly conduct, he said.

She was released pending arraignment at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Lamoille County Courthouse in Hyde Park.

  1. Not the best approach on her part, ironic though how quickly law enforcement jumped on that issue. I’m not defending her. Perhaps it may have been considered less egregious to have threatened the tenant instead. 🤔
