

K9 to the rescue

We often forget how important the role of man’s best friend in the police force truly is.
Per Essex PD, “On June 17th, 2024. At approximately 4:32 PM EPD received a call that a child had run away from their mom about 15 minutes before calling the police.”
“Upon the officer’s arrival they learned that the child may have run into the nearby woods to the river. K9 Nova was deployed and after a quick track, she located the juvenile in the river. The child was unharmed and swiftly returned to their family. Great job team!”
Suspected body of Barnet man found in NH
On June 5, at approximately 1:45 p.m., troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were alerted to a missing person report on Comerford Dam Road in Barnet. Gerard Poulin was last seen on Monday, June 3, around 5:30 p.m. in the area. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue khaki shorts, brown leather work boots, and grey/white knee-high socks. While his disappearance was not initially considered suspicious, concerns for his welfare were high.
During the search efforts, members of the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department discovered a body shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, in the Connecticut River in the town of Monroe. Preliminary identification suggests the body is that of Mr. Poulin.
The body has been transported to the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord for an autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the cause and manner of death.
The circumstances surrounding Mr. Poulin’s death remain unknown and are under active investigation by the Vermont State Police. Authorities urge anyone with information that could assist detectives to contact the St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111. Jumper rescued in Pittsford
At around 10:50 a.m. on Monday, June 17th, Vermont State Police troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to a report of a man who had jumped off a bridge into a creek near Colburn Lane in Pittsford.
Assisted by the Pittsford Police Department, first responders located the man conscious and alert in the creek below the bridge. He was treated at the scene for his injuries before being transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
The incident required a multi-agency response, with the Pittsford First Response, Rutland City Fire Department, and Regional Ambulance Service assisting state police and local officers. U.S. Route 7 was briefly closed to allow emergency personnel to safely conduct the response and rescue operation.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the man jumping from the bridge.
ATV stolen in Troy

Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Derby Barracks were notified of a stolen ATV from an address on Collins Mill Road in the Town of Troy, VT. It became known through investigation that the ATV stolen was a 2021 Polaris Sportsman, blue in color worth approximately $6,000. A picture of the stolen ATV is listed above. The owner of the ATV, Adam Dobler, 39, advised the ATV was stolen from the side of a garage at an address on Collins Mill Road sometime between late May and early June of 2024.
