A joint police SWAT team raided a South Burlington hotel Thursday, Dec. 19 and arrested three Philadelphia, PA area men for fentanyl and cocaine trafficking.
The Vermont Drug Task Force (NWVDTF), in cooperation with the Vermont State Police, Tactical Services Unit, Vermont State Police, Williston Barracks, South Burlington Police Department, and the Burlington Police Department, conducted search warrants at 6:51 PM at the Anchorage Inn located at 108 Dorset Street. The raid was the culmination of a months’ long investigation into the distribution of fentanyl and cocaine base in the Chittenden County area.
The investigation consisted of several controlled purchases of illegal drugs and resulted in the seizure of fentanyl and cocaine base. Michael Rainey (34) of Bensalem, PA was charged with fentanyl trafficking and cocaine possession. Kenneth Wright (33) of Philadelphia, PA was charged with fentanyl trafficking and sale of cocaine. Rajib Ingram (36) of Philadelphia, PA was charged with two counts of cocaine sale and fentanyl trafficking.
Police have maintained for more than two years that Philadelphia-area drug dealers are responsible for a large influx of fentanyl into the Burlington area. The Anchorage is a former ‘homeless hotel’ and has a history of being a location for drug crime.

No doubt, the judge and prosecutor will apologize for the traumatic experience they endured being arrested and arraigned. Then they will be awarded monetary compensation and sent on their way. To do anything else would be racist.
These 3 dealers are responsible for multiple fentanyl poisoning deaths. They all should be S.O.S.!
For a moment there, thought the three wise men were beckoned to Vermont by the Christmas star. Turns out it as Sarah George’s promise of catch & release, low risk, quick wealth.
at least they were bearing gifts from afar. Who needs frankinscence and myrrh when there is fentanyl and trank…
I’m sure none of these guys have prior criminal records, right? The police are doing there jobs, what are the courts doing? This isn’t the Vermont I grew up in. We need a prison like most other states. Vermont is small enough to have two regional prisons, one toward the north and one toward the south. Close the small ones or keep them as holding areas for courts. Another thought would be to have the Sheriff’s run jails in each county for minor offenses and build one prison for the habitual offenders. There’s no other way to solve this crime problem. When the word gets around to these out of state drug dealers that Vermont isn’t fooling around anymore and if you are dealing here you get a long stay behind bars. And the liberals will cry, oh that’s so cruel as if all the ODs and drug deaths and felons with illegal guns isn’t.
If only they contained their criminal activities to burlington nothing would have happened because the city council and justice system there welcomed crime if their protected class commits the crimes. Had enough yet Vermont?
I am abhorred that VDC can’t find high yearbook school photos of these Vermonters and are using incriminating mug shot photos that make them look guilty.
Don’t worry, they are using stolen identities anyway. No way that dude is 36 years old, c’mon now.
If you are going to do clandestine things, at least wear a plaid shirt to try and fit in you morons. If you look like a hoodie wearing a hoodie with out of state plates, you need to contribute to the politician’s campaign funds first, or they are going to get ya.
Offer any druggies a $100 bounty, and you could catch all the dealers in a day, but that’s not what the system wants. It won’t do anything but increase the taxpayers jailing costs and infinite new drug dealers will come take their place anyway.
Solution is to stop subsidizing this lifestyle and require all taxpayer funded “help” to be for drug and alcohol free people ONLY. Evict people living on the streets. State property is not a free hotel.
Lets arrest the politicians for stealing our money to run crack houses in our communities.
The Anchorage…long a hotspot of street pharmacy operations and shady guests. Didn’t all those police agencies get the memo from the office of the Chittenden County State’s Attorney that “you can’t arrest your way out of a drug problem”? We can only hope that it will be the US Attorney’s office that will be bringing forth serious federal prosecutions for these downcountry guests. Meanwhile, Vermont is looking at wrapping up another year of 200+ opioid overdose deaths. Credit for the death toll is also due to the advocates of Vermont’s free hotel program which is still ongoing with horribly inadequate discretion of who is accommodated.
And 6 more are either here or on the way to take their place.
The Vermont GOVIE is promoting tourist to visit our state, now what more could you ask for????? In Vermont we welcome, come one come all and we welcome diversity.
I see the Anchorage Inn gets yet more positive press!!! Burlington, you asked for these drug problems with your need of diversity and defunding the police. You reap what you sow!
Charge Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark and Chittenden County State attorney Sara George with treason.
The snake eating its tail ….
The dope is used to overdose
‘The Jab’ resuscitates
Begin again
The government (police, fire, probation & parole) and medical industries are the ones making the money.
The taxpayers are the ‘dopes’ who facilitate the epidemic by reelecting the people who make their living as bureaucrats, orchestrating this chaos in killing the unwashed.
Fentanyl overdose has become the leading cause of death for young Americans since 2019. U.S. authorities say that China remains the primary source of the precursor chemicals which are made in – wait for it, Wuhan! – which are then processed and manufactured into synthetic opioids and punched into pills by Mexican drug cartels to bring into the United States. Go figure ….
In China, sentencing for drug trafficking could include capital punishment. For example, the seizure of 50 grams or more of heroin or crystal methamphetamine could result in the use of the death penalty by the Government.
The punishment for treason in the United States can include a minimum of five years in prison, fines up to $10,000, and the possibility of the death penalty. The Constitution defines treason as “levying war against the United States, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort”. To be convicted of treason, prosecutors must prove that the defendant committed one of these acts with the specific intent to betray the United States.
The Democrats have facilitated the open border policies.
Bernie, Welch and Balint are the ‘elected’ sacrosanct, enriching themselves in Washington at the expense of the state’s future. They are coconspirators with the Chinese and the cartels in the destruction of Western civilization as we know it.
Oddly enough, no guns charges mentioned
I was thinking the same thing myself. We know drugs and illegal guns go together like soup and sandwich. What are they hiding from the public?
Under the current administration of the justice department as a whole, federal gun charges are to be used only against white folk. For a fentanyl dealer, a gun is a necessary tool of the trade, like a plumber’s wrench. The Biden Administration under Merrick Garland doesn’t want to impede their voter base from earning their bread.
According to VSR inmate locator all 3 perps released on Friday at 3:00 pm. Probably never to be seen again. Great job Chittenden County Court.
