Person struck, killed by train in Essex Junction

Railroad Street in Essex Junction was opened by police this morning following an overnight collision in which a person was struck and killed by a train, Troy Austin, First in News photographer, reported today on Facebook.

Police have not identified the victim as of 11:36 AM today, Wednesday May 21. The accident occurred near the Maple Street (Rte. 117) intersection with the railroad, not far from the Five Corners intersection and not far from the Amtrak train station. Other details are not yet available.

Police closed the section of the railroad between Main Street and Maple Street, Austin reports.
