  1. Guy,
Thanks for now making it a regular component of reports on some of these repeat offenders. It shows us exactly how wimpy the criminal legal system is in keeping these folks off the streets with high numbers of encounters with law enforcement and multiple felony, misdemeanor, and assaultive crime, convictions. These facts don’t lie, but they reveal that there must be stricter enforcement, higher bail, and the will of all who are involved in the judicial/ parole/probation/corrections piece of our criminal justice system.

In in-depths discussions with several officials from a cross section of the system about this troubling trend, I am still trying to find out exactly where he ball is being dropped, and the serial offenders are falling through the cracks. The answer has not been easy to find, and we all must do what is in our power to accurately identify the gaps, and then offer solutions to hold the powers—those who work for us— that be accountable. As civically engaged citizens and taxpayers in our communities, we must insist on doing our part to make our communities and Vermont safer.
