Two pedestrians are in critical condition after being struck during rush hour by a pickup truck near the Interstate access to Rte. 7 in South Burlington, state police say.

On December 11, at about 4:40 PM, state police responded to a report of two pedestrians struck by a motor vehicle on I-189 East, near Route 7, in South Burlington.

On arrival, troopers located the pedestrians April McMahon, 54, of St. Albans, and Todd Brissette, 61, of Burlington getting medical treatment from South Burlington Rescue. State police found that McMahon and Brissette were walking across the crosswalk on I 189 from Route 7 when they were struck by a motor vehicle operated by Jeffrey Fay, 61, of Richmond who was entering I 189 headed east from Route 7.

Both McMahon and Brissette were transported to UVM Medical Center for serious injuries sustained from the crash. Both remain in critical condition.

    • It’s the same problem walking around Barre. Some of the lights TELL drivers to cut you off or hit you, giving them the green light at the same as they give it to you.
