Police across Vermont made a series of arrests and responded to several serious incidents over the past week, including a drug house raid in Lyndonville, a fatal crash in Orwell, and an indecent exposure case at a St. Johnsbury hotel.

Lyndonville drug raid results in arrest

A Connecticut teenager is facing multiple felony charges after police executed a search warrant at a suspected drug distribution residence in Lyndonville.

According to the Lyndonville Police Department, officers searched a home at 75 Runners Road on March 13 as part of an investigation into narcotics activity in the area.

Police said the warrant was obtained following an investigation led by Officer Renaudette. Chief Jack Harris led the operation, with assistance from the Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department and Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

During the search, officers seized several thousand dollars in cash, a loaded firearm, more than two ounces of suspected cocaine and approximately four grams of suspected fentanyl.

Police arrested Tylee Omarion Mack, 19, of Hartford, Connecticut. He was charged with possession of cocaine over one ounce, possession of a narcotic drug greater than 1,000 dosage units and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.

Mack was ordered held without bail and lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.

Fatal crash in Orwell under investigation

A Brandon man was killed Sunday evening in a single-vehicle crash in the town of Orwell.

According to the Vermont State Police, troopers responded at about 5:33 p.m. March 15 to Old Sawmill Road near the intersection with Vail Road for a report of a crash involving entrapment.

Responding troopers found a vehicle that had crashed into several trees with both occupants trapped inside.

Firefighters from the Orwell Fire Department extricated the passengers from the wreckage. One occupant, identified as Michael Guess, 28, later died at the scene.

The driver, identified as Aron Therrien, 27, of Brandon was also extricated and flown by helicopter to the UVM Medical Center in Burlington with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the crash remains under investigation, but speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.

Man accused of exposing himself at hotel pool

A Connecticut man was arrested late Saturday night after police say he exposed himself to multiple women at a hotel pool in St. Johnsbury.

Troopers with the Vermont State Police were dispatched at about 10:48 p.m. March 14 to the Comfort Inn & Suites Near Burke Mountain for a report of a man exposing himself to females in the pool area.

Through witness statements gathered at the scene, police identified the suspect as Rick Martin, 31, of Griswold, Connecticut.

Investigators determined Martin allegedly committed three counts of lewd and lascivious conduct involving multiple female victims of varying ages.

Martin was taken into custody and transported to the state police barracks for processing. He was ordered held on $500 bail and later lodged at the Northeast Correctional Complex.

Additional arrests reported statewide:

• Troopers arrested Christopher Way, 33, of Canaan after finding him slumped over in a parked truck that was impeding traffic on Jefferson Hill Road in Newbury. Police said Way had an active warrant and provided false information during the investigation. He was lodged at the Northeast Correctional Complex for lack of $5,000 bail.

• Ryan D. Magoon, 37, of Londonderry was arrested March 13 after police responded to a reported family fight on Magoon Road. Troopers said Magoon caused a household member to fear serious bodily injury and assaulted a trooper during the arrest. He was charged with domestic assault, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

• Elizabeth D. Blackwood, 38, of Danby was cited following a March 4 road rage incident on U.S. Route 7 in Dorset. Police said the incident resulted from negligent operation and that Blackwood provided false information to investigators.

• Christopher Colello, 43, of Huntington, New York was arrested for DUI after a single-vehicle crash on East Mountain Road in Killington early March 15.

• Kimberly Butler, 44, of Bennington was arrested for DUI and cruelty to a child after troopers stopped her vehicle in West Rutland and found a one-year-old child improperly restrained.

• Matthew Bradley, 40, of Rutland was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a suspicious vehicle complaint on Pleasant Street in West Rutland.

• Chester G. Baxter III, 54, of Royalton was arrested for DUI after troopers received reports of unsafe driving on Vermont Route 12 in Bethel.

Many of the cases remain under investigation and will be handled in Vermont Superior Court.
