Feds say there’s no funds left to respond to hurricanes after FEMA spent $1.4B on migrants | 3 Oct 2024 | Homeland Security Secretary [and Grade “A” sociopath] Alejandro Mayorkas set off outrage Wednesday when he told reporters that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) “does not have the funds” to see Americans through the rest of this Atlantic hurricane season — after the agency spent more than 1.4 billion since the fall of 2022 to address the migrant crisis… Over two years, more than 1.4 billion has been committed from FEMA-administered programs to support non-federal entities that are taking care of migrants. DHS allocated 780 million for the migrant crisis last year through the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Program, which funds relief not associated with natural disasters, and the FEMA Shelter and Services Program, which was authorized in late 2022 by Congress to respond to the migrant crisis.  The 640.9 million spent this year comes solely from the Shelter and Services Program.

The announcement came while Blinken was on a rare joint tour with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy after the two top diplomats traveled together to the Ukrainian capital to underscore their commitment to the country in its war with Russia. Blinken said the assistance also would provide humanitarian support and pay for mine-removal operations.

But while halfway through rescuing an elderly couple in Lake Lure, North Carolina, on Sunday, a senior official with the local fire department told him he would arrest him for doing so… Thirty minutes after of the arrest threat, a temporary flight restriction order was also implemented over Lake Lure, right where he and the official faced off. Seidhom believes that the move to have himself and other pilots pushed out of the rescue zone put peoples lives at risk. “I’m sorry, if I had to do it over again, I would have stopped and I would have rescued as many people until they decided they were going to arrest me.”

The latest cases were found in workers who had contact with infected cattle in California’s Central Valley, where more than 50 herds have been affected since August. The workers developed eye redness known as conjunctivitis and had mild symptoms. California health officials said the workers were employed at different farms and there is no known link between the two cases, suggesting that they were infected through animal contact, not by people.

As first reported by FOX 13 Seattle, the Renton Police Department said 19-year-old K’Shawn Konscience Jimerson called 911 just after 2 p.m. and told the operator that he had stabbed someone and would be standing “outside with the knife.” …When law enforcement officers were asked if they objected to Jimerson’s release, they marked “yes” on a court form, stating, “Jimerson, who is 19, stabbed a 65-year-old man with a large knife during an argument.” At his first court appearance, 27 hours after his arrest, Judge Michelle Gehlsen initially set bail at 50,000 despite finding probable cause for second-degree murder and the prosecutor asking for 2 million bail. BioLab plant fire: More than 90K sheltering in place in Georgia as ‘strong chemical smell’ enters Atlanta area | 30 Sept 2024 | Authorities are now reporting a “strong chemical smell” in the Atlanta area following a chemical plant fire east of Georgia’s capital city that has forced more than 90,000 residents to remain sheltered in place Monday after the “harmful irritant chlorine” was detected in the air. The Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency announced this morning that it is continuing “to investigate the numerous reports of a haze and strong chemical smell across Fulton County, likely related to the BioLab fire” that broke out in Conyers on Sunday. BioLab is a company that produces pool chemicals, according to its website. The government in Rockdale County, where Conyers is located, ordered residents to remain sheltered in place on Monday after testing from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division revealed the presence of the “harmful irritant chlorine” in the “air emitting from the incident location of BioLab.”
