A North Troy mail carrier has been cited on multiple theft and unlawful mischief charges after allegedly discarding mail in a dumpster on a regular basis dating back to October 2025.
Vermont State Police were notified at approximately 4 p.m. on January 23, 2026, that an assortment of mail had been located in a dumpster at a residence on Elm Street in North Troy. None of the mail was addressed to that property.
Investigation revealed Natasha Morisseau, 34, of North Troy, as a person of interest. Morisseau was employed with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier out of the North Troy office. The investigation concluded that a small portion of mail under her care was thrown in a dumpster on a regular basis dating as far back as mid-October 2025.
During the investigation, both opened and unopened packages and holiday cards were located in the dumpster and in a subsequent search of her mail delivery vehicle. Of six opened holiday cards, only one was determined to have contained money.
Morisseau has been suspended by the Postal Service since the incident was uncovered on January 23, 2026. All recovered mail was returned to the post office for delivery.
Morisseau was issued a citation on February 14, 2026, for nine counts of petit larceny and five counts of unlawful mischief.
The case has been forwarded to the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General for further review.
Morisseau is scheduled to appear in court on March 17, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

Sorry, but a lot of mail coming to my house, begging for money, should end up in the dumpster and i use to start my wood stove in the morning. Trying to save the dump up in the N. E. K. from over flowing.
Anything to do with the mail is a federal crime so she should pay the consequences for being such an idiot. 20 years in jail would probably fix that attitude she has.
As a former USPS employee, to hear that this happened IN VERMONT, really pisses me off. I don’t want to keep saying “back in the day”, but back then, accountability kept you in line. We had morals. We were fingerprinted, NO CELL PHONES on the job. Yes, tampering with the mail is a FEDERAL crime. You were handling personal correspondence.
What really gets me, is some grandparent probably sent cash in the Christmas card, like they always did. Those packages were probably hand wrapped. This is worse than stealing and shoplifting at a store. This is personal.
This piece of sh## employee needs to clean dumpsters at a prison with a toothbrush and do hard time. And even then, that’s not punishment enough.
