VDC Managing Editor’s note: To see a list of Vermont politicians promoted by the platform, see: ActBlue — Directory
A congressional investigation into online Democratic campaign contribution platform ActBlue is ongoing, with a new report from joint interim staff and a letter to the organization’s CEO requesting additional documents.
The platform aroused Republican suspicions leading up to the 2024 presidential election, with some elected officials raising concerns that Democrats might be using the platform to circumvent campaign finance laws.
The newly released staff report claims that despite knowing that “both foreign and domestic” actors were using the platform fraudulently, ActBlue executives and staff did not vigilantly work to combat the platform’s exploitation.
“Twice [in 2024] – once in April and once in September – ActBlue changed its fraud-prevention standards to make them ‘more lenient’” and later “attempted to hide the changes” to avoid looking suspicious, according to the report.
“For example, ActBlue’s training guide for new fraud-prevention employees instructed them to ‘look for reasons to accept contributions,’ rather than err on the side of flagging suspicious donations,” the report reads.
Recent news raises additional questions about ActBlue’s ability to comply with relevant federal election and campaign finance laws, according to a news release from the House Judiciary Committee.
It cites reporting from The New York Times about “at least seven senior staff members, including ActBlue’s ‘highest-ranking legal officer,’” having resigned since late February.
The chairmen of the Committee on House Administration, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Judiciary Committee wrote to ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones for additional documentation regarding ActBlue’s legal compliance.
“ActBlue’s internal turmoil, lack of a functioning legal team, possible retaliatory actions, and failure to take fraud seriously raise a host of new questions about the platform’s ability to deter fraud and comply with legal requirements,” wrote the chairmen.
They asked to receive the documents and schedule two transcribed interviews by April 16.

Noooo…. Democrats are corrupt? They really use shady means to collect money from across the globe to “interfere in our elections”? Then they accuse the Republicans of doing what they do themselves?
Say it ain’t so!
And we do none of the things we are accused of! They are so Corrupt and so is Act Blue’
DemocRATs love power & money, and will take money from anyone foreign or domestic no matter the cost to you……….crooks & criminals thrive in and out of politics, just look at their portfolio, and look at what you have !!
Wake up people
ActBlue is the repackaged and rebranded ACORN. For those who don’t remember – here is a refresher:
“On March 19, 2010, The New York Times reported that ACORN was on the verge of filing for bankruptcy; 15 of the group’s 30 state chapters had disbanded over the previous six months, and other chapters (including the largest, in New York and California) renamed themselves and severed all ties to the national organization.[79] Two unnamed ACORN officials told the Times that the following weekend, a teleconference was planned to discuss a bankruptcy filing; “private donations from foundations to Acorn [had] all but evaporated,” and the federal government had distanced itself from the group.[79] “[L]ong before the activist videos delivered what may become the final blow, the organization was dogged for years by financial problems and accusations of fraud.”[79] “That 20-minute video ruined 40 years of good work,” said Sonja Merchant-Jones, former co-chairwoman of ACORN’s recently closed Maryland chapter. “But if the organization had confronted its own internal problems, it might not have been taken down so easily.”[79]
On March 22, 2010, National ACORN spokesman Kevin Whelan says the organization’s board decided to close remaining state affiliates and field offices by April 1 because of falling revenues.[80] Other national operations continued operating for another several weeks before shutting for good.[76] On April 20, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis reported that ACORN was “still alive. We’re limping along. We’re on life support.”[81] Lewis said that ACORN’s annual budget had been reduced from $25 million to $4 million, and that its staff of 350 to 600 people had been reduced to four.[81] Lewis explained the controversies had left a stain on ACORN, “sort of like a scarlet letter,” forcing the group to spend money defending itself against “one investigation after another.”[81]
Act Blue’s aim is to destroy our constitutional republic, and replace with one party communistic rule, by hook, and crook, and not by transparent, and fair, play. Dirty tricks ,dirty players and horrible rule… that will end our republic, if successful…don’t allow it to happen…vote every dem/leftist/socialist out and keep them out!
Go to the Actblue directory, almost every VT democrat is on the list. Do these VT democrats ask where the money comes from? Missing from the article is the fact that the organization is also under suspicion for laundering foreign money by using people’s real names unbeknownst to them as giving donations. They have been caught not using the security numbers on the credit cards which allows them to fraudulently use fake names as donors. You haven’t heard the last of this investigation. ActBlue is going down and hopefully some people will be in court.
I get the feeling the USAID money was laundered to increase the donations made by unsuspecting ActBlue donors. Say someone on a fixed income donated $10, with USAID money added in the donation was recorded as $2,000. or whatever the maximum donation that was allowed.
Most politicians are kind of shady, tend to stretch the truth and manipulate facts, but the Democrat party, at least at the national level, seems to be a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.
