Moo92 is among the radio stations now owned by Russ Ingalls

State Senator Russ Ingalls (R-Essex) is the new owner of a group of radio stations in the Northeast Kingdom and New Hampshire, the Journal-Opinion reports.

Ingalls, owner of All Seasons Realty, and Green Mountain Broadcasters LLC have purchased Vermont Broadcast Associates from Bruce James.

The deal covers stations in St. Johnsbury, Lyndon, Littleton, Irasburg, Derby Center, and Newport.

According to WCAX-TV, Ingalls wants to focus more on local news and less on national news.

James tells the Caledonian-Record that the sale will help move him toward retirement.

“It’s been quite an adventure that started as a 10-year old boy growing up in Groton, talking into a hairbrush as a pretend microphone, to becoming Vermont”s largest locally owned radio group,” James said.

The sale is at least the second recent, major sale of a Vermont radio station chain to an instate owner with a political background. Myers Mermel, former president of the Ethan Allen Institute and a 2022 candidate for U.S. Senate, purchased Radio Vermont (WDEV, etc.) from the Squier family a year ago January.

Hoopster eclipses Olympian’s record – Oxbow High School alumna Jade Huntington no longer has the career scoring record for high school girls basketball in Vermont.

West Rutland senior Peyton Guay now holds the record after passing Huntington during the fourth quarter of the Golden Horde’s 54-49 win over Hazen on Saturday.

“The game took a brief pause while [West Rutland] athletic director Joe Harrington announced Guay as Vermont’s scoring champion and played a pre-recorded message from Huntington congratulating Peyton,” reports WPTZ-TV.

Huntington’s reaction (from the Burlington Free Press):

“It’s about time. The record has been standing there too long … it shows a tremendous amount of dedication on her part. It’s not an easy task.”

Huntington, sister Jasmyn Huntington, and Thetford’s Jolene Thurston are in the top 10 all time, per the Free Press.

  1. So very refreshing to see local radio remain local and to see it owned and managed by common-sense conservatives. Those are a few less broadcasters for George Soros to own, thank God. Wishing you well in this venture, Sen. Ingalls.

  2. I don’t understand why you chose to focus on Moo and not on Magic. That error on your part deflects from the role Magic has played in the Lyndonville/ St J community for many years. I remember when Bruce bought Moo. As the outgoing afternoon personality on Magic, I feel slighted. Shame on you; you again show your ignorance.

  3. Congratulations Russ Ingalls 👍🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸👍
    Like allways that Vermonter
