Murray campaign: Liberal columnist won’t touch the third rail

Senate candidate’s campaign says liberal columnist ‘misses the mark entirely’

Editor’s note: The Andrea Murray for Senate campaign submitted this response to an op-ed, “That’s a Whole Lotta Bull, Ma’am,” written by John Walters, publisher of The Vermont Political Observer.

You could almost feel sorry for Andrea Murray but you don’t need to because your gossip column posing as a journalistic blog misses the mark entirely.

For starters, what is a far-right Republican in the first place? In pale blue Vermont it’s virtually anyone right of Bernie Sanders, not a hard mark to hit. Today’s “far-right Republicans” are farther left than John F. Kennedy, so the silly nomenclature is practically meaningless.

Secondly, recounting the historic failure of Windsor County to seat a Republican then bemoaning the ouster of John McGovern who presided over much of that failure is like being a chronically 2-14 Jets fan and being mad they fired the coach. Only it’s worse than what you stated. McGovern was ousted, by a group of his peers, not just the Murray’s, for repeatedly side-stepping protocol and acting as a dictator largely because he was the only game in town for so long. He’d gotten so calcified in the ship he’d help sink he acted like whatever he did was smooth sailing because he barely even had a skeleton crew.

The Murray’s, new to the area and eager to serve, along with another thirty Vermont Republicans looking for the right leaders to revive Windsor County, all agreed McGovern had to go. No hard feelings, no back-stabbing, he simply was not performing per the role he’d essentially inherited. It’s that sort of “rules don’t apply to me” mentality we see in Washington, now Montpelier, that taxpayers are tired of. Sorry John, but if you want to stay on the team you don’t get to keep coaching the losing product you helped create and bend rules to suit your needs. That’s all.

Attacking Andrea as a “common-sense” Republican for stating she will work across the aisle, then lobbing a salvo at Democrat turned Republican John Rodgers reveals the stuck-in-the-woods mentality of the author. Democrats across the country have bailed by the tens of thousands to become Republicans, or at least join with them, because the left as typified in Vermont lacks “common-sense”. Notably Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Eric and Brett Weinstein, Walk Away founder Brandon Straka, former Clinton advisor Naomi Wolfe, award winning (actual) journalists Matt Taibi and Michael Schellenberger, comedian Jimmy Dore just to name a few. Sure, claim Darth Cheney as your counter – you’re welcome to him. That’s the point, We the People, both left and right, have had enough of You the Establishment and your big government, big pharma, big war, big corruption cronies.

Thirdly, using one’s own money to support one’s campaign is hardly an indication of largesse, but you wouldn’t know that because you, not being a journalist in practice, didn’t ask for an interview nor did you assume correctly, only making an ass out of you. Financing one’s own political campaign is more an indication of self-belief and self-sacrifice than deep pockets. Had you bothered, you’d know she’s using her retirement to pay for it, out of sheer concern for the dysfunctional state of Vermont. It’s called commitment to the cause, a concept slightly beyond this tabloid apparently.

Of course you make no substantive arguments regarding her policy positions or lack of being a career politician like Becca White, Alison Clarkson and Joe Major, you look into who her PR firm is? The one she fired after finding out the same grift you mention? You make her guilty by association without understanding their association. Again, a real journalist would have asked for the interview, gotten this information, and saved the egg on their face, a result you’re left with now.

It’s a wonder you’re so concerned with Mrs. Murray’s spending her own money in a state that is the second most egregious for spending taxpayers (i.e. other people’s) money.

Then we have the petty typo complaint, which just goes to show how puerile your criticism is. A typo, really? If that’s a top problem for her as a candidate Vermonters should be lining up to check off her box in November, and they will. Throw on some pants and drive around the county and count up all of the Murray for Senate yard signs. We dare you.

Speaking of deep pockets, where is trustifarian Alison Clarkson getting her money? Maybe look into that. Or journeyman Joe Major formerly of Buffalo, then Pennsylvania, then Florida, then Maryland, now Vermont? You sniff out political opportunism as well as you do interviews. Then of course Becca White who has stayed in one political position just long enough to launch upward to the next. She’s got a Bernie Sanders trajectory with that Hillary Clinton energy, which no doubt you’ll confuse as a compliment.

Of course you won’t touch the third rail of questioning why the Vermont political sky is so blue, because it takes courage to push back against the establishment here in the Green Mountain state.

To the readers of this blog we ask these questions: Are you happy with the tax situation in Vermont?

Are you satisfied violent crime in Vermont has doubled since 2014?

Are you willing to throw more money at an education system that isn’t just failing our children but causing our children to fail?

Are you going to keep the people who created this mess accountable or keep voting for them?

We respect whatever decision you make, however we still ask for your vote. We also understand the author of this blog has been fired by his last two employers for poor performance as a journalist. Now he’s reduced to tabloid level gossip masquerading as insider journalism.

You just hate to see it.

  1. I have never seen more direct hits and body blows landed in one article than this one!! Every sentence a fact!! Well done!!

Now come on, Vermont!! Become the state of common sense and hard work you were once famous for!! Bring this bad Leftist LSD trip to an overdue end!!

  2. Well God speed to Andrea, having gone down that road it cost me. Many can quietly say, think, gee, my taxes seem to be getting out of line.

When you go outside the Vermont bubble and find out, hey, my friend in Maine, owns 2 homes on 42 acres and pays $800 per year in taxes.

Only then do you begin to fathom how badly you are being screwed over. Another friend moved to the Carolinas, her house was taxed at $850 per year if I recall correctly and that included trash removal.

Affordability, Drugs/Crime and Educational system are the main issues in our state. Why are they so bad, because it’s the plan. We are a subverted state, both political parties are either knowingly or unwittingly doing the bidding of those organizations who in concert have subverted a perfectly good republic.

Best thing possible is for the VTGOP to go bankrupt or have an utter house cleaning, picking on them as they have members, 112,704 last count that know what the hell is going on despite our failed party leadership. The other party is a knowing accomplice.

Subversion is a military tactic. This video below, for what would seem to be prophetic knowledge explains exactly what has happened in Vermont. Was he a prophet, of course not, but he was educated in the Soviet Military and knew their plans, their plans that he laid out in 1980’s are exactly what is happening today.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FElIhOh_KI

It was and is the plan, written out for all to see, which is why he was able to predict the future.

In a Bean interview of a young Vermont representative, we find he describes in detail, what is a failed political state, the state of Vermont being operated by a small band of less than 10 people and cadre of lobbyists.

We at the Green Mountain Party could see this was the case, which is why we wanted to tax out of state lobbyists 90%. They cried you’re taxing free speech; no we are taxing political bribes. It costs nothing to speak, it does cost money to bribe and fund politicians and fund political movements that hides as non-profits, doing the bidding of the administrative state, of which nobody voted for.

The interview from this VDC was perhaps one of the most insightful to be seen in sometime, on the equivalent ground of exposing the pedophiles in the Catholic Church, their talk exposed the oligarchy in Vermont. Vermont has been subverted.

    Time to TAKE BACK VERMONT

  3. John Walters is a nasty, deranged little liar who taps away violently at his poor keyboard to dispatch missives to the paltry sadsack readership he retains after being repeatedly fired for unethical journalism. His title is classic irony and liberal projectionism — few humans spew as much bull as pathetic Walters. But here we see the M.O. of Vermont’s so-called enlightened progressives: 1) they avoid policy discussions Alinsky style, instead employing filthy ad hominem attacks, generally baseless; 2) John Walters is revealing what they all reveal — they seek a one-party Vermont where no evil Republicans live. They will protest this is not true, but it is evident in almost every missive — look at Zuckerman now constantly claiming John Rodgers is an elitist and an evil MAGA Republican. It is more than tiresome — it has become absurd. No one is more absurd than John Walters, which is why I pray for him. I suspect he is demonically possessed: these are the “lie and hate” tactics of the devil, not the behavior of a civil Vermonter. Most of these carpetbagger progressives brought their toxicity to Vermont with them — to rule over all of us deplorables. Go Andrea Murray!! Vermonters need people of integrity to confront this vile evil. If John Walters attacks you, it is an endorsement that you are a decent, honest human being, and thus a threat to the ideological Borg that is a cancer on poor and working-class Vermonters. See how God uses evil for good? — even Walters, the little bully schoolboy. John has attacked me repeatedly — I honestly haven’t even read his screeds against me: they are so easily dismissed as the rantings of a lunatic, and only his mommy and a few fellow deranged maniacs taint their brains with his tripe. Far more people are reading the truth here instead.

    • Re: “Far more people are reading the truth here instead.”

This explains why Mr. Walters censored me when I replied to his commentary on his blog spot. I wasn’t argumentative, rude, or dishonest in any way. I simply made the recommendation that his readers check out the rebuttal to his commentary as published here on VDC.

      Enough said about John Walters.

  4. Bravo, Andrea. As our good friend John Klar said, “If John Walters attacks you, it is an endorsement that you are a decent, honest human being, and thus a threat to the ideological Borg that is a cancer on poor and working-class Vermonters.” Glad to be in that club with you. The progressive left is trying to smear me with John’s dross, and is claiming I’m the one “who brought the politics of their political north star — Donald Trump — of intolerance (even hate), fear mongering and misleading attack ads to the race.” They then claim “This is not the Vermont way.” If they opened their ears for even a moment, they would know my north star (or Lord and Savior) is Jesus Christ, not Donald Trump. Bringing quotes from Act 18 or the final NV5 report is fear mongering and misleading attacks. For the progressives, the Vermont way is stealing yard signs, publishing lie filled op-eds and commentary’s and getting their supporters to do the same and amplify Water’s hit pieces on Facebook. How about talking about the affordability crisis instigated on the supermajority’s watch, the disaster that Act 18 is shaping up to be along with the rest of the GWSA money grab, and the drug and crime issues festering across the state. Silence. It would be political suicide if the electorate knew just what the supermajority has done, which is why they are fighting so hard to silence us.
