Mishaps, law-breaking on highways and train tracks

A tractor-trailer truck went off the road in northern Franklin County and into the Missisquoi River Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place after 1 PM on North River St. (RT 78) area of Louies Landing. There were no injuries, and the driver was removed from the truck, which was partially submerged.

114 MPH on I-91 – A Brooklyn, NY resident was cited for traveling 114 MPH on I-91 Tuesday evening.

State police say that shortly before 7 PM, a Trooper conducting speed enforcement on I-91 in Brattleboro initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling at 114 miles per hour in a posted 65 mile per hour zone. The operator, Shloma Jacob (21) from Brooklyn, NY, was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court and issued a VCVC (Ticket) and $724 fine.

Car stuck on train tracks, driver cited for DUI, resisting arrest – Monday night, shortly before midnight, state troopers found a motor vehicle stuck on the train tracks in Middlesex. State police say operator Brian Watson of East Montpelier showed signs of impairment, and troopers arrested him for suspicion of DUI. While taking Watson into custody, he resisted arrest. After processing, he was released on a citation to appear in the Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division.

Motorcycle unlawfully towed – Tristan Pierce, 28, of Duxbury on August 14 had a motorcycle unlawfully towed from a Duxbury home, which was private property that was not under his ownership or control, state police say. He was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division.
