There is so much more to be done to create new sources of renewable energy and decarbonize the regional grid and economy. There are billions of federal dollars available for states that are focused on getting to Net Zero, creating green industries, and cutting costs for their residents.
The state can create Vermont jobs, reduce transportation and heating costs, and eliminate Vermont emissions by:
Strengthening the Renewable Energy Standard (RES) to get to 100%: Burlington achieved 100% renewable energy in 2014, and since 2019 has been working on a path to achieve Net Zero Energy by 2030. It is time for Vermont to do the same, the new RES should: Emphasize the benefits and importance of renewable energy that is generated in-state and in New England; Keep rates as low as possible and not over-burden ratepayers; and Treat Tier 3 incentive requirements as a minimum, not a maximum, investment in energy transformation.
Capture and Leverage Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Rebates for Low/Moderate Income Vermonters: The IRA is the greatest investment in energy transformation in history. BED and the City have taken numerous steps to increase local awareness, as have other utilities. Complementary state action would help ensure these programs are accessible and available to eligible Vermont consumers and contractors.
Advance Wind Energy in Vermont: For utilities like BED to meet future electricity demands from new, local renewable energy sources, we cannot get the job done with solar alone, and energy from offshore wind remains inaccessible to most Vermont utilities. It is time for the Legislature to put wind energy back on the table as an option for Vermont’s energy mix.

The smile in that picture says it all…
“I’m stealing all the money out of your wallet to finally bring communism to the US and making you feel good for doing it while disarming you, increasing drug use, crime, letting lawlessness run rampant, and occasionally locking you in your homes”
“Hire me for governor!”
Right! It’s called “duper’s delight.”
the hot air keeps on blowing
Miro would like everyone to know that all his hot air is certified carbon-neutral.
Wind…sustainable….net zero…..
so tired of these worthless, expensive, lib talking points. The sheep still don’t understand??
The only possible advantage to “following Burlington’s lead” is that – just like with Burlington – the increased crime, prostitution and drug use will mean that no one will want to come to Vermont anymore. Stemming the influx of rabid communists would undoubtedly be good for Vermont. Maybe he’s actually on to something?? 🤔
You mean like Newsome in California ? 🙂
Sad but true. Often, things have to become much worse in order for the good people to rise up to attempt to make it better. However, if Venezuela & other nations are examples….it’s typically far too late by then. Amerika appears to be next in queue.
Spot On. No one I know is even going to burlington to do anything anymore. Many are shopping in NH.
He’s running ! Isn’t Burlington the shining example that the rest of the state should aspire too ? NOT !!!! Miro, you and the rest of your Socialist circus have ruined Burlington. You are the cause of the present degradation of the city into slumhood, not the savior from slumhood. I can only hope that the citizens of Vermont are smart enough to understand this.
Remember Bernie started it.
Some might even go back as far as Pat Leahy’s father inlaw . He kicked the oil companies out of the waterfront, causing the oil companies to have to truck oil in from South Portland, and other places one truckload at a time, instead of by the barge load. That did wonders for the price of oil at that time, and I still wonder if that is not why gas is more expensive in Burlington than it is in Hardwick.
And Miro is CORRECT. Since the state & its impotent GOP have voted for Communism by electing & enabling socialists, “progressives” and radicalized, godless democrats as their representatives, he well knows that not merely should VT follow Burlington’s lead, but they SHALL.
Without a valid GOP opposing this tyranny, without an engaged electorate, and without an impartial, unbiased media (other than VDC) which actually reports the news and acts as the protective free press it was designed to act as – Vermont, as we know it, will be permanently gone from the horizon very soon.
And you all have been indoctrinated for years to believe that the “danger” was the tourists & second home buyers who drive up to spend their $$$ in the state, add to the state revenue, helped to create a successful economy, and pay higher tax rates for the privilege of doing so.
Nope. It was your Commie (democrat/socialist) elected officers all the while creating a diversion by sowing division between Americans. Playbook? Rules For Radicals. As it turns out, it wasn’t those maple syrup-buying skiers’ fault to begin with. Hmmmmm……NOW what???
Okay, here you go, if you want wind energy in Vermont, take it to where the people live http://www.champlainwindpark.com
Yes Annette, and then raze all buildings on Burlington’s shoreland and replace with solar panels. Then ban all cars in Burlington because pubic transportation is readily available. Shut down McNeil power plant ” According to the US EPA, McNeil emitted 453,563 tons of carbon dioxide in 2021, making it one of Vermont’s mega-emitters of climate-damaging pollution. And that’s just carbon – McNeil also emits large amounts of methane and nitrous oxides, two other potent greenhouse gases that heat the climate.” https://www.clf.org/blog/vermont-mcneil-biomass-plant-district-energy-project-bad-deal/#gsc.tab=0
I guess we know what his next job will be: from leaving Burlington a virtual disaster area to lobbying for trashing the entire landscape of Vermont and further impoverishing Vermonters and destroying their health and quality of life.
LOL, NO!
Is it April Fool’s day on VDC?
Miro is WMD for any place he runs.
Gee….sounds like a practice campaign speech to me. Thanks, but no thanks Miro. The town I live in still has minimum crime and drug activity…..we don’t need to be anything like Burlington. You are delusional to think ANY town wants to be like Burlington. Please retire and go away. Far, far away….
May God help us.
No thanks
Burlington is still in VT? Why don’t we pay New York to take it off our hands?
Probably because the majority of the state’s revenue comes from Chittenden County for starters
Each of weinberger’s “green” schemes listed above relies upon Federal tax dollars to fund, subsidize and enhances the wallets of those that subsidize him, thru campaign contributions. None of his fantasy schemes actually benefits Vermont citizens or Vermont’s climate. weinberger is but a shill for the donor class, a useful idiot to promote the graft and fantasy of Climate Change ™.
This is what clown world is and how fun it is, isn’t it? As this one exits stage left…cue the calopy music!
It is a lie. The word needs MORE CO2.
