Manley: No Kings at 5 Corners

by S. Adam Manley

Hurray for Free Speech!  Here are a few comments I’ve heard about the “No Kings” demonstration that took place at 5 Corners here in Essex Junction:

“After walking among the crowd yesterday, I began wondering who in the democrat machine came up with the King’s tag line for the movement they’re pushing. I then thought looking at the crowd, that the Milgram experiment results are correlated again in a significant number of regular folks are blindly following what they believe is authority, regardless of facts. Hunter’s laptop anyone? Legacy media is playing us all. Aren’t Democrats challenging anything they disagree with through our constitutional court system, so how is that being a king? That’s our democratic republic at work!” –George F.

“It’s like a club they can belong to no matter how ill-informed the mission is. Very Sad. Lonely and angry people.” -D.B.

“I went through there a little while ago.  Some older woman was holding a sign that said ‘honk if you’re tired of this shit’ [sic]. An American flag on a pole was leaning against her, and it was deliberately touching the ground. And apparently the Islamo-Nazis involved in the ‘free Palestine’ movement are joining with the no kings baloney since Trump took away their cause.” -B.G.

Myself?  I think Democrats and Republicans alike can agree we don’t want to be ruled by kings.  After all, the forefathers of this nation fought the Revolutionary War to rid ourselves of rule by monarchy and institute the Representational Democracy.  We have thrived for 250 years. I wonder if the folks who are sponsoring the rally don’t really want to be MAGA supporters, deep down inside?

But what are they really calling for?  Throw away America itself?  Replace our Representational Democracy with some sort of Socialist Utopia?  Chuck Schumer, leader of the US Senate Minority, recently said “Rise Up, faithful Democrats!” on a nationally televised broadcast.  Rise up against what, and do what, I wonder?  Is this incitement to violence?

Their rhetoric does not make any sense.  Where do they get their information?  Bad information in, bad decisions out.  The organizers and performers I saw at five corners have a lot of energy.  But their agenda is a clown show!

Like one person rightly said about this situation: “We’ve got work to do”

PS: We’ll leave Jesus Christ out of this one.  He was innocent, and lived about 2025 years ago.  Who cares.

  1. Trump hates america. It’s unconscionable that a sitting president would share a video of himself dressed as a king, flying a fighter jet, dropping fecal matter on citizens. That’s all you need to know about how much he cares about American citizens. All of you included.

    • Yeah, it’s funny as hell, it’s called trolling. He is the Rodney Dangerfield of world leaders.

How much did they pay you to save our democracy? Lol

    • I’m less convinced that President Trump hates America than that you seriously hate President Trump!

    • Really, That’s the Liberal point of view. You and they should copy the image and hang it on you wall. I might find humor in it, but it shows the negative that the left lives by. I wonder who is financing the King’s Demos and the obvious organizing. George Soros—. I haven’t seen the video, but your explanation is descriptive. The Kings didn’t accomplish anything just shows a sickness showing how simple minded people are manipulated. If ya’ll don’t like the country, leave. Follow Whoopie Goldberg.who said (like many other Hollywood idiots) she was going to Canada but never did. Mr Nick, seems you were never in the military protecting this country like millions have.

    • Oh! It was a joke! S****ing on the citizens of america! So funny! Did you guys catch the other joke about trump blasting a missile over southern california, the shrapnel of which fell on people’s cars? HAHAHA! Oh man! That’s hilarious too, eh? Do you think it would have been funnier if we saw an actual image of the missile hitting real citizens? Wouldn’t you just like to laugh at that too? Trump could have won the Mark Twain prize for that! Better luck next time, I guess.

    • Lisa B, he didn’t hurt my feelings. However, when I educate my children about this president it is very difficult to see the things he does that are helpful. I let my children listen to what the president says, the content of which would not be allowed in most school settings. When my child saw the video even he understood it was inappropriate. I suppose that’s too much to ask for a grown trump supporter.

    • Yeah, maybe he was making fun of the largest Astro turf protest, paid for and organized by NGO’s and non profits, all for “Saving our democracy” which means you’d have to tear down the constitutional republic we were given to defend.

Yeah maybe all those “citizens” of another country, voters from another country, public drains from another country.

Sadly he does get the other side riled up, which really isn’t good for coming together. Course he just got another Covid shot, so clearly the man isn’t perfect.

But he does not appear to carry water for the new world order, he doesn’t appear to be a stooge for the United Nations, maybe those were NWO pimps, if so he needs to eat more prunes and go back and finish the job.

Like a Vermont farmer with his manure spreader.

  2. The hypocrisy of the Left is just off the charts.

I’m old enough to remember when they took people’s jobs for daring to question the jabs, or cutting tits off of young girls, the fairness of men pretending to be girls so they could finally win track meets.

And these are the assclowns that think they’re the champions of free speech??

They’re about irritating as buzzing gnats around your face, and should be treated the same way.

  3. Congratulations to the Left Dems for their Saturday No Kings Protest, it was the most successful of their policies, It is the following Monday morning and Donald Trump is NOT A KING! Very successful for a waste of time on a beautiful Autumn Saturday

  4. Speaking of kings, just in Exclusive: FEMA Workers Improperly under Biden Administration Collected Data About Politics of Disaster Victims, Politicized distribution of hurricane aid money before the 2024 election was no ‘isolated incident’, a Homeland Security follow-up report sadly concludes”

  5. I drove by a No Kings rally and noticed that, unlike the first one last summer, there were American flags waving throughout. What a crock. They aren’t fooling anyone but themselves. Under ordinary circumstances, waving an American flag in front of a Leftist would be the equivalent of waving a crucifix in front of Satan.

  6. If the No Kings crowd read the Declaration of Independance and the Constitution they would know that if the Constitution was followed the United States could never be ruled by a king. What they are really demonstrating for is the overthrow of our Constitutional Republic to a 1984 like state. Orwell warned us.

And the world’s few… evil people have little power without the help of the world’s many stupid people. As a result, stupidly is a far greater threat than evil”.

  7. The problem with “no kings” or “maga” is the symbolism and ritualistic idolatry – divide and conquer – no matter which way it is sliced, diced, or monetized. There is no cohesive goal, no straight path, and there is no platform to make the average, or less than average, American’s life any better. There is only theft, death, and destruction. If this were not so, we would not be in such a state of mass confusion and mounting collateral damages. Who is the Master behind of all these puppets? Much debate, fewer conclusions or agreements.

Reminds me of Country Joe and the Fish – 1967 I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die

And it’s one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
    Don’t ask me I don’t give a damn
Next stop is Vietnam (Ukraine, Gaza, Venezuala – take your pick)
And it’s five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain’t no time to wonder why,
    Whoopie! We’re all gonna die!

Those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it – all by design – sanitized, edited, and deleted for programming, mass consumption, cultural demise, collapse, repeat. Perhaps this time around, it may turn out for the betterment of humanity. It depends solely on the collective of humanity itself.

    • The Vietnam War, I remember it well… and this……”Those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it “……couldn’t agree more…

    • There is quite a lot to learn from the way the Vietnam War (Conflict) was conducted, including the Communists using the NYTimes as a communications network, the Time Magazine Saigon Editor feeding articles to NYT not just printing them was a General in the North Vietnamese Army Intelligence division and not vetting the indigenous that assisted the US Army, every move North was given to the North Vietnam, some even before the US field commanders received them.

    • “What else did they accomplish? Post your thoughts in the comments below.”

They have demonstrated that they would like to Make America Great Again.

      I can work with that.

But the only answer to my questions came from the publisher of this website in the form of a picture. Let’s talk directly to the issues they raised in a part 2.

  8. My granddaughter, who is a freshman in high school, came by yesterday to hang out and play a few hands of rummy with her grandmother and me, pick some apples and check out possible locations for youth hunting which start this weekend.

We talked about the No Kings demonstrations and the Trump AI video of him dumping feces on demonstrators. I explained that in our country citizens have the right to peacefully protest. We do not have to agree with them, but we need to respect that right so many have fought and died for. I also explained my own admiration for our founding fathers, especially George Washington who was a man of great virtue, impeccable manners and bedrock integrity and that Washinton was a far better example of a President on which we should model our own behavior.
