Man arrested for sex assault on 9-year-old

A 29-year-old St. Johnsbury man has been arrested on multiple felony charges following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving a child.

According to St. Johnsbury Police, the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) and local officers received a complaint on December 2, 2025, alleging that a 9-year-old had been sexually assaulted. Authorities say an investigation was launched immediately, and interviews conducted during the inquiry led to the arrest of Steven A. Sheldon II, 29, of St. Johnsbury.

Sheldon has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Police took Sheldon into custody on February 23, 2026, without incident.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at 12:30 p.m. on February 23, in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division.

  2. What planet did this thing come from? Needs to be neutered so no more will be like him. Get serious Courts, protect the public.

      One has to be CONVICTED before that happens. He was just arraigned on the 23rd. Which means hes formally charged in court. During an arraignment, a judge reads the specific charges against a defendant, who then enters a plea of guilty, not guilty, or no contest. Then another court date…

  5. Pervert! How can anyone do this to a child. He needs to find Jesus and repent. This poor child has to overcome this assault; it is so hard to do. I pray for strength for this child and their family that has to pick up the pieces of this guy’s choices.
