Vermont State Police arrested a man on multiple charges Thursday after he allegedly fired a rifle while driving through town.

According to authorities, at about 3:30 p.m. on March 6, police received a report of a Chevrolet Cobalt traveling down Main Street in Richford with its driver firing rounds from a rifle. Responding troopers located the vehicle disabled near the intersection of VT 105 and VT 118 in Berkshire.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Isiah Vallender of Richford, was taken into custody. Following an investigation, police determined that Vallender was operating the vehicle under the influence and was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, and shooting from a motor vehicle.

Vallender was cited to appear in Franklin County Superior Court on Monday, March 10, at 1 p.m. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and police have not disclosed additional details regarding the firearm or potential motives.

Missing Corvette – State Police are attempting to locate a missing 1993 Corvette (likeness photo, above) belonging to Charles Hagar of Fletcher. In the summer of 2024, Hagar had allowed a friend of his to use the Corvette, but that friend unexpectedly passed away and the whereabouts of the Corvette are currently unknown. At this point this incident is non-criminal and troopers are just asking for public assistance in locating and returning the Corvette to Mr. Hagar. Please call the St. Albans Barracks with any information.
