Last evening, April 22, a violent incident involving a machete took place in Burlington. The Burlington Police Department promptly responded to a report of a physical altercation. Arriving at the scene officers located two individuals involved in the altercation.
During the investigation, it was discovered that a 41-year-old man named Russell Taylor, hailing from Morristown, had allegedly attempted to strike another person in the head with a machete. In addition, Taylor was found to be in violation of the curfew and had an active arrest warrant.
As a result, Russell Taylor was apprehended by the police and subsequently transported to the Northwest State Correctional Facility. He was denied bail due to the charges of aggravated assault and the outstanding warrant against him.
A check of Taylor’s criminal history reveals a concerning record. In the state of Vermont, he has accumulated a total of 7 failures to appear, 5 violations of court orders, 6 felony charges, 44 misdemeanor charges, 4 assaultive crime charges, 1 assault on an officer charge, and 15 violations of probation/parole charges.

… and a partridge in a pear tree! Complete failure of the judicial system.
So what is “concerning ?” Seems par for the current crop and past graduates of Vermont’s judicial system thanks to judges and district attorneys who have a misguided vision of the law.
Do we have to wait for someone to die before action is taken?
My sympathy and support for our police who do their job only to be let down by other’s failure to support the laws.
This is unbelievably shocking. Oh wait, no it isn’t. It’s just Burlington Vermont being Burlington Vermont. I almost forgot that the city of Burlington now identifies as an urban sh**-hole.
Mr, Taylor’s criminal history,
7 failures to appear,
5 violations of court orders,
6 felony charges,
44 misdemeanor charges,
4 assault crime charges,
15 violations of probation/parole charges,
And last but not least, 1 assault on an officer charge
And why is this clown out walking around, he needs to be locked up and the key thrown away……………… I guess Mr.Taylor is above the law !!
He’ll be back on the streets doing his thing in no time.
burlington/// a foreign country i will not visit////
Where’s the bill to ban the sale of machetes. Or a background check. Or a waiting period. They don’t get it. The machete was the tool, Russell Taylor was the weapon.
Eventually this perp will attempt to assault the wrong person…hopefully a person who is a concealed carrier.
