Lieutenant Governor-elect John Rodgers announced today the appointment of Elizabeth Brown of Waterbury as his chief of staff.
Rodgers, a Democrat-turned-Republican, defeated incumbent Democrat-Progressive David Zuckerman on November 5. Although Rodgers fell short of the 50% majority vote, Zuckerman has conceded and does not plan to seek election when the Legislature formally elects the next LG as required by the Vermont Constitution.
“Elizabeth has demonstrated a strong commitment of service to Vermont and Vermonters.” said Lieutenant Governor John Rodgers. “A gifted team leader and trusted administrator, she brings valuable experience from the private sector to her new role, and I’m grateful for her willingness to serve Vermonters alongside me.”
About Elizabeth Brown
Elizabeth is a 2024 candidate for Vermont House of Representatives, running unsuccessfully in the Democrat primary. Professionally she has spent twenty-four years in corporate development, strategy and program execution working for financial services firms, most recently as Head of Strategy for a national bank. She excels in developing and implementing large scale integrated strategies and supporting top level executives to grow and optimize their organizations with the ability to plan, execute and deliver measurable results.
Most recently, she served as Chief of Public Engagement for Rodgers’ campaign for Lieutenant Governor. Elizabeth is a Harwood Unified Union School District school board member and a mother to two children, ages 11 and 16. She lives in Waterbury.

The new chief of staff past working with financial firms, should have a good understanding of the federal reserve and their policies. We will know by June of 2025.
Looks like Burlington will be printing more money with bonding for water, sewer, and storm run off. Remember, the state will not allow a bond default and all state taxpayers are on the hook to pay the bonds. We can let GOVIE fix this problem.
There is nothing more telling than a narrative peppered with the approriate, carefully selected word salad. Case in point: “supporting top level executives to grow and optimize their organizations with the ability to plan, execute and deliver measurable results.” It is interesting to note that just about every non-profiteer or NGO stooge has very similar flowery accolading “achievements.” The results on the ground, to the average person, doesn’t seem to correlate or manifest as written. The truth is supporting top level executives means they made sizable bank and the secrets of what really transpired in the boardrooms are safe and secure.
I don’t fault people for playing the “game” to get where they want to go. Free will to dwell in the belly of the Beast. Yet, I do have to say “delivering measureable results” is a self-serving embelishment when only a select few receive the trickle down and the majority continues to struggle.
Elizabeth will be an incredible advocate for Vermonters and a great and trusted support for John. She is tuned in and like Rodgers will work hard for VT. I am so happy to hear this- Great news!
Thank you both for stepping up.
Ms Brown may be a wonderful person but did he have to choose a democrat?
A very serious thought – why does the Lt-Governor need a chief of staff. One secretary (or administrative assistant if you prefer) is more than enough help. His normal job is to preside over the Senate. Just pay attention and read the bills – I don’t think you need a “staff” for that. If he is covering for the Governor, it seems to me that we already have a “staff” there to support him. I voted for him (no regrets there), but if we are going to save money, we need to start with those at the top.
when Rodgers runs for the Gov. slot… he will run as a Dem.
Clearly building the party…choke, cough, gasp
With dems…..and ehlers too!
