Letters: Mazur on govt. corruption, Malloy on media

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Blogs and podcasts are reporting corruption in our government going back to the Obama era especially with Iran.  We had Americans in this country working with Iran developing the nuclear bomb. The Obama’s Administration (Kerry) intervened when the FBI planned to arrest them.

There are Iranian sympathizers throughout our government as well as spies from other adversarial countries who have even infiltrated our White House.  The lead Iran negotiator, Blinken’s high school buddy and Obama’s law school classmate, was stripped of his security clearance and the White House refuses to release reasons why.  Recent covert activity at Quantico where illegals gained access is hushed by the White House.  That the same entry by illegals occurred recently at another military base.  Our infrastructure is being cyber attacked and the FBI issued warnings about this escalating.

A recent video revealed hundreds of billions of taxpayer money being spent on illegals was an eye opener and ripe for corruption.  Maybe that is why the Pope is for open borders because the Catholic Church is recipient of millions helping illegals get settled in this country.  A food delivery bill for each illegal is $36K a year for those staying in NYC hotels?  It is a fact that the Catholic Church could not survive without American money. On Memorial Day it is good to see attendees honoring our war heroes…..but only a few are of the younger generation.  The young folks just do not know what is evolving nor are they prepared.  -Frank Mazur, former South Burlington member of House of Representatives

GOP very much alive, despite media claims otherwise – My name is Gerald Malloy and I am a Republican candidate for US Senate here in  Vermont. I announced my candidacy in December. I am writing in response to Mr.  Emerson Lynn’s 24 May article [in the Saint Albans Messenger] ‘It’s a general election without serious challengers’. Please allow me to introduce myself to Mr. Lynn and to your readers.

I live in Vermont where I ran for US Senate in 2022 and I have been building on my  connection and commitment with Vermonters every day since. In the last 18 months I  have seen, felt and been part of, a very real resurgence in the GOP, statewide, to meet  the challenges we all face. I say this because of the numbers of people who are directly  reaching out to me, while the attendance/interest in VTGOP events has increased  substantially, like 150 people now vs. 33 then for a VTGOP event.

The VTGOP has fully developed and now is launching GET REAL solutions to actually  address the honest issues facing all Vermonters. Just this past Saturday, May 18 our Republican Governor Scott attended the State GOP Convention. That was a  significant standing room only event, where our Governor gave his promise to support  the GOP, and invited to include Governor Doug Burgum, Scott’s friend from North  Dakota at the event. Doug Burgum is a current Republican Governor and a former  Presidential candidate. Governor Burgum’s real, inspiring, and unifying speech  resonated with us.

Both Governor Scott and Governor Burgum highlighted, in great detail, the challenges  facing Vermont and our Country, as you did Mr. Lynn, and the that room was full of  buzz from serious challengers, candidates that have already decided to run, are filing  and will do what it takes to restore balance by applying common sense solutions to the  Vermont legislature, Vermont’s Congressional delegation, and Vermont statewide  offices for our people to live in freedom, unity, with health and prosperity.

Vermont is on a bad path and every Vermonter that is honest with themselves knows it.  Vermont needs to change. Re-electing the very same folks that led and let Vermont be  on this bad path is status quo, disconnected and unbalanced. Their path will continue to  deliver more and more cost burdens with a ridiculous property tax hike, unaffordable energy costs hikes, more crime, more fentanyl overdoses, more kids failing basic math  and reading, more taxes, more government and more people fleeing Vermont. Not a  bright future.

I am one of those serious VTGOP challengers you neglected to see. I represent and  deliver change. I have 40 years of relative experience, across business, government,  military, and foreign policy, to deliver RESULTS like safety, well-paying jobs, real access  to your elected representative, and Peace.

I’m prepared. I am a West Point graduate, military veteran, business success/MBA; I  have served and serviced our US Government and across Europe/Asia/Persian Gulf/ Middle East; I am a proud father of 4 with the youngest still in high school. Please  compare my experience across the entire US Senate. I don’t have $9 million to spend on  media nor am I backed by big money tech like Bernie is, but as I have been doing for the  last 30 months, along with invaluable support from the hundreds of volunteers and  supporters, and I will continuously engage with Vermonters with my feet on the ground, statewide. No one has walked into more Vermont businesses than me in the last  2 years, not even close. I was also welcomed by many.

I very much look forward to debating my opponent many times, and I am going to  embarrass him every time he talks about all the things he’s ‘going to do’, 33+ years later,  and embarrass him every time he continues to lie about that the Republican party  making abortion illegal. That is a lie. Feet on the ground common sense, Vermonters  have had enough BS. BS are the initials of Bernie Sanders.

I think you missed the real reasons Mr. Dean and Mr. Weinberger are not running,  because it’s the same reason many Democrats are retiring. The progressive left hijacked  and polluted the Democrat party. It’s a party that has lost its bearings, one I don’t think  JFK, or even Howard Dean, would want to be a part of, because it is that party that  delivers ‘challenges’, like Burlington’s escalating crime/drug crisis, that is a life and death crisis that now we all must contend with that every single day. They see the  change coming. Downstream Vermonters all have had enough.

Yes, there is an uncontrollable side of media that chooses does not to acknowledge the  facts. The fact is, the VTGOP is very much alive and well, activated, energized, and  unified and no longer will be edited out and silenced to the margins. Not so long ago,  Vermont was a Red state. Today, Vermonters everywhere see living and working in  Vermont as being unsafe, unaffordable, and undoable, while we say our goodbyes to  dear neighbors packing up for New Hampshire or Florida, or anywhere else that does  not have a progressive supermajority literally forcing people to lose what they worked  for and believe in because that party wants and will diminish you and make you just go  away or leave.

I will not go away or leave. I draw my strength in resolve from President Coolidge’s true insight on Vermonters generous spirit of liberty. Coolidge said and I quote ” If the spirit  of liberty should vanish in other parts of the union and support of our institutions should  languish, it could all be replenished from the generous store held by the people of this  brave little state of Vermont. ” Don’t remain blinded or discouraged Vermont, our VTGOP is very much alive and loves our brave little state. We are stepping up to deliver the pure spirit of liberty.  And thank you Saint Albans for another great Maple Festival in April. We enjoyed being  with you.

-Gerald Malloy
