Calls for Constitutional Accountability. The Libertarian Party of Vermont condemns the recent strike deep into Russian territory, carried out by Ukraine using U.S.-supplied long-range missiles authorized by President Biden. This decision, made without congressional approval, bypasses the Constitution, which explicitly grants Congress—not the president—the authority to declare war. These actions escalate a dangerous conflict and undermine the peaceful transition of power to President-elect Donald Trump, who campaigned on prioritizing diplomacy over war. The American people have made clear their desire for de-escalation and peaceful resolutions.
We call on Democrats, progressives, conservatives, and Republicans to denounce this unconstitutional act of aggression. It is time to unite as a nation in opposition to war and demand adherence to the constitutional limits placed on executive authority. The Libertarian Party stands firm in advocating for non-aggression and the pursuit of peace through dialogue, not missiles. We urge the Biden administration to cease further provocations and support a diplomatic resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. The Libertarian Party of Vermont is committed to advancing individual liberty, limited government, and a foreign policy of peace and non-intervention.
