Letter: Republicans and Independents need to band together against Clean Heat Standard

The UN-Affordable-Heat Act

To the editor:

By Vicki Disorda

My fellow Vermonters, it’s time for Republican and Independent candidates to band together against the Clean Heat Standard.

In speaking with Steve Berry, who is running as an independent for a seat in the United States Senate against Bernie Sanders, he revealed that he too is experiencing censorship by Vermont newspapers. He can’t get his events advertised or his articles published either, and Steve resides in Manchester! Apparently, Steve’s views are too closely aligned with Republican values. In particular, Steve is against the Clean Heat Standard.

This position, which is news mind you, appears to be too uncomfortable a topic for the supermajority of Vermont news media outlets to cover. What should be objective reporting appears more concerned with pleasing/supporting the political supermajority than actually covering the news and stories of the day, which would mean representing both sides of the issues fairly. So much for freedom of the press.

This begs the question, has the press in Vermont been bought out? Either with money or souls. Are personal narratives guiding the story selection process rather than fairness? It is difficult to say and much harder to prove. But the tolls are coming. We still get to cast our votes. (So far.) Or will the supermajority stop this too if things don’t swing their way?

The one thing that has become clear is that the press can hide the truth…simply by not publishing it.

How did our Vermont policy makers become some powerful that they now control the media? Is it fear? Money? Personal agendas?

Come this January the supermajority will silence everyone by voting to make heating oil, kerosene and propane unaffordable and force hard working Vermonters into poverty where they will have complete control. In the same way they are icing candidates with opposing views out of the democratic process, they will soon be icing Vermonters out of our homes.

If this isn’t a cruel authoritarian government, please tell me what is.

We opposed to the clean heat standard must band together to defeat this injustice.

Silencing the opposition is simply not good government and unamerican.

We need a united front against the Clean Heat Standard and our oppressors in the state of Vermont. Our freedom begins and ends with our freedom of speech. It’s time to stop the insanity now.

Winter is coming…

  1. As VDC readers know, the Manchester Journal has been putting their finger on the scale with regards to the clean heat standard. I’ve been working with another independent candidate for the Bennington District Senate seat, and both the Manchester Journal and Bennington Banner are now labeling Spike Whitmire as a republican in their reporting on him, even though he is running as an independent.

  2. The Time has come to Stand-Up to the approaching threats of our livelihoods in Vermont against a tyrannical supermajority voting-in laws that will only destroy our very existence in our homes and anywhere in this state.

100% agree with Vicki Disorda – Republicans and Independents need to Unite and be a force against the destruction of our lives in Vermont.

We are being and have been oppressed for far too long. Make your voices heard, post signs on your lawns, on your mailbox, spread literature wherever you can! Go to your GOP Meetings, learn what you can do NOW.

Make sure you Vote for common-sense, Republicans, Independents that will serve you the People! Our Legislature is supposed to work for the People, not for lobbyists, the federal government or the globalist agenda.

    We need ACTION Now!

  3. This is nothing new, during the “pandemic” anyone who asked “incorrect” questions was relegated to the END of the line, but curious Vermonters would wait just to hear “alternative” questions as they grew tired of a sycophantic, bland, sameness to the so-called reporters. Just ask Guy Page, Mike Beliowski, or myself who was branded with asking “racist comments & questions” on a wednesday, when that didn’t prove out the next day I was branded “hobby news” and my credentials yanked, so I asked for all the Governor’s “comments” from the public & “press”, which all seemed remarkably similar. Lo and behold all their B/S about masks, distancing, and even that crappy vaccine (they even changed the definition of the term) were sunk like a worm-ridden old ship. Thanks to Guy Page for THIS site, donate if you can, SM.

  4. If you stay in VT, winter is coming. Get an RV and head 1600 miles south to a better winter place. Simple.

  5. Whatever party you are in here in Vermont, do you really think this clean air bill is a feasible process………………..

Wake up people, Vote these clowns out, and be a Vermonter who helped save the state from a financial disaster !!

  6. Today I watched as the President of the United States denied the fact that, at his direction, the Department of Homeland Security redirected funding from FEMA in order to support illegal immigrants. It is a fact that FEMA funding was spent to transport and house the waves of Illegal immigrants. Best guess estimates are at least $600,000,000—likely much more.

They are using their megaphone, their powerful tool of influence, to broadcast false statements. This ‘megaphone’ has the potential to shape public opinion, and it’s essential that we, as politically engaged individuals, are aware of its influence and critically evaluate the narratives it presents.

The same holds for this false rhetoric that Carbon and Fossil Fuel usage is to blame for changes in weather patterns. They use their megaphone, and people are indoctrinated and brainwashed into following their falsehoods.

So shall we seize the reigns of power, or shall we seize the reigns of the broadcasters of false narratives? Or, perhaps, both at the same time?

  7. Interesting and timely article from the Daily Caller. The Rep Party may have found a way to reverse the Super Majority. I believe this holds true in VT as it does nation wide. The article site is included herein:

Conservatives Reveal Plan To Awaken Sleeping Giant Voter Demographic That Could Decide
    https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/09/gun-owners-get-out-the-vote-turnout-pennsylvania-trump/
“Instead of selling a product, we’re selling freedom. We’re selling their lifestyle. We’re selling the ability to be independent and not hassled by your government, because these people that hunt when we poll them, it’s just like, ‘hey, I don’t want the government in my business, and so I’m not going to go get in their business.’ Well, we figured out how to message them and let them know that, ‘hey, listen, they’re going to come into your business. They’re going to take over your business if you don’t go vote once a year.’”
“So it’s like, basically, guys, you need to get off your tree stands and out of the duck marshes, and out of the deer woods and pheasant fields and go vote,” Mark said, adding that the group never pushes the demographic to vote for a specific candidate.
Former President Donald Trump himself believes gun owners can sway the election. Speaking at a recent rally, he said that the National Rifle Association had shown him numbers about how infrequently gun owners vote. “If you would vote, nobody would beat us,” Trump said.

  8. Re-posting my comment on another VDC article, being pertinent with this article:
