Lawmakers gather tomorrow for 2024 preview

Lawmakers, press and other interested Vermonters will learn the latest on housing, the economy, the state budget, federal aid, and flood recovery at the annual Legislative Briefing at the Vermont State House Friday, December 1. 

The annual update also will be livestreamed

At 10:00 AM, House Speaker Jill Krowinsk and Senate President Pro Tem Philip Baruth will offer opening remarks.

10:15 AM – Economic and Revenue Review Tom Kavet, Legislative Economist, Kavet, Rockler & Associates.

11 AM – Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Context, presented by Joint Fiscal Office. 

11:30 AM – Fundamentals of Federal Aid to Vermont, by Marcia Howard, Executive Director and Executive Editor, Federal Funds Information for States. Then, lunch.

 1 PM – Housing Panel with Maura Collins, Executive Director, Vermont Housing Finance Agency; Sue Minter, Executive Director, Capstone Community Action, Inc.; Gus Seelig, Executive Director, Vermont Housing & Conservation Board.

 2:30 PM –  July 2023 Flood Update, Douglas Farnham, Chief Recovery Officer.

  1. Is this where they hand out life jackets and assign seats on the lifeboat?

    Too late for the rest of the passengers on the ship.

  2. All right!!! Lets see if there will be a list of laws/regs to be repealed and perhaps impact auditing (intended & unintended outcomes) for some of the more intrusive legislation? Like…obstructions to doing business…interference in how citizens use their property. Check with your constituents for ideas.
