The Vermont State Police and local law enforcement agencies made several arrests across the state over the past few days, including a fugitive apprehension in St. Johnsbury, an underage drinking case in Charlotte, a retail theft in Berlin, and a warrant arrest in Richford.
Arrest on hunting/fishing/trapping interference warrant
A New Hampshire man with a criminal history was arrested Saturday evening after troopers stopped his vehicle on Interstate 91.
Police said that around 6:22 p.m. on Nov. 1, Trooper Ryan Underhill stopped in St. Johnsbury for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, Daniel Greenwood, 59, of Whitefield, N.H., was found to have an active Vermont arrest warrant for a previous charge of interfering with lawful hunting, fishing, or trapping.
Greenwood was processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks, cited to appear in Essex County Superior Court on Nov. 3, and lodged at Northeast Regional Correctional Complex for lack of $50 bail.
Court records show Greenwood was previously sentenced to 90 months in federal prison in 2019 after pleading guilty to firearm possession as a felon and burglary of a Kinney Drugs in Cambridge, Vermont, in 2017. He had also been a fugitive from state supervision and was arrested later that year in Massachusetts in connection with another burglary.
Charlotte man cited for allowing underage drinking at Halloween party
Vermont State Police say a 46-year-old homeowner, Jack Fairweather, was cited after troopers responded to reports of an underage drinking party on Spear Street late Halloween night.
At about 10:09 p.m. on Oct. 31, troopers from the Williston Barracks arrived to find juveniles consuming alcohol inside the residence. Fairweather gave officers consent to enter, police said.
The juveniles received court diversion referrals, and Fairweather was issued a criminal citation for sale or furnishing alcohol to minors and enabling consumption by minors. He is scheduled to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court on Dec. 16.
Arrest for swapping UPC codes in store
A man accused of manipulating UPC codes to buy higher-priced items at a discount at Walmart has been identified after a public appeal.
Berlin Police said that following a late report on Oct. 31, Walmart Asset Protection alleged that a suspect taped lower-value barcodes on expensive products. After police posted surveillance images on Facebook, Campbell McArthur, 43, came forward and identified himself, police say.
McArthur was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court in mid-December to answer the theft-related charge and has been issued a Notice Against Trespass from both Walmart and the Berlin Mall.
Richford woman arrested on $10,000 warrant after resisting troopers
A 24-year-old Richford woman, Raven Hendrix, was arrested Saturday afternoon after troopers discovered she had an active warrant for failure to appear and multiple probation violations.
At about 3:22 p.m. on Nov. 1, troopers from the St. Albans Barracks encountered Hendrix, who resisted arrest and was found to have violated a court-ordered 24-hour curfew.
Hendrix was taken to Northwest State Correctional Facility and lodged on the $10,000 warrant.
