An Instagram page has taken the initiative to publicize some concerning imagery and videos of the Queen City’s homeless and drug epidemics. The page is crudely titled “burlington_looks_like_shxt”, it has at least 36,300 followers and more than 300 posts.
There are numerous public comments. Generally, folks are upset but not surprised. Some are ready to take this media to the City Council.
Instagram user ‘HippieOnAHitch’ posted this comment to a photo showing a large amount of trash in an alleyway.
“Where the [‘firetruck’] are the police? This piles up THAT much and no officer can drive by and see open drug use ? Seems like it wouldn’t take long to see, given how much crap has piled up. My goodness.”
Another photo is labeled as taken at 128 College St. It depicts two adults lying down in a stairwell from apparent drug use.
‘St8Rocker999’ wrote, “Lastly, Burlington is a slum. If you’re a landlord you will default be a slum lord. Because Burlington voters and council made it that way. I’d like to see everyone bitching try Matt’s job. You need a good dose of it.”
Who started it?
Instagram does not require users to reveal their real identities to the public. There’s no real name or identification on the account. Its description reads, “Your Front Seat To The Burlington Shitshow. Not here to make a difference. Link For Merch Below.”
In its archives some disturbing and sometimes graphic content can be seen. Sometimes it’s happening right among the city’s main hangouts.
On Church St
One video shows an old man stumbling around with no shirt on in the middle of Church St., the city’s most popular shopping and dining area. The clip shows folks pass by and try not to interact with him as he stumbles around.
‘Burlington looks like shxt’ wrote “First you wake up to this, then you go to church st to view another, go run an errand and see someone jump on a car and then have a few drinks before heading home to get the final show!!! #burlingtonvt”
Spraying mase?
According to one commenter on the stairwell picture, folks who choose to confront a homeless person need to be ready for potential danger.
A mother wrote, “you would be surprised a lot of them carry bear mace and use it often on innocent people it’s insane smh I’ve seen someone try to do it to a handicap elderly man for confronting them about being on his property shooting up it’s such a disgrace me and another man walking by had to intervene.”
Intimidation?
On a photo that depicts a group of homeless pushing carts past a school bus, a commenter posted that sometimes he will get intimidating looks.
‘Macaronitime47’ wrote, “I see this group of scoundrels so much more than Id like too. They will just walk down the dead center of the street 3 people wide and look at you as if youre in the wrong driving in your vehicle. 😂”
Taking it to the Council?
‘fire4effect0811’ also commented on the video of the old man noted that they are ready to take action.
“I’m gonna start sending these in a message to the city council and police commission,” she wrote.
Brazen theft on Main St.?
There’s a surveillance video of two people walking away from a car with numerous packed bags.
Ryan Harris wrote, “Hello everyone. This is my stuff that was stolen from my driveway on Main Street. I (almost) always am sure to take my things out of my car but got home late and forgot the one backpack. First and last time I’m making this careless mistake.”
Graphic and candid
There are many photos and videos to see, including videos of arrests, videos of people passed out with needles around them, videos of folks using the needles, videos of fights, and other candid and graphic content. Going to Burlington is like walking across Lake Champlain in the summer with snowshoes on and expect to keep your feet dry.
Burlington the ” Queen City ” has become a cesspool all while under the control of Progressives, or as anyone can see ” Out Of Control “.
The circus is in town, and the clown bus is full. The clowns are city counselors, and the driver of this bus is the DEI Mayor what a pathetic display of leadership !!
Williston is the new “Burlington” shopping area. It’s clean, coordinated, well-run, and have police which are not defunded. My family and I never go to downtown Burlington and rarely go to the U-Mall after its rash of shootings. Sunday brunch…Williston. Christmas shopping…Williston. Need something…Williston. Yes… I will pay the 1% local option tax for a clean, safe, organized shopping experience with plenty of free parking. Burlington’s management has made the city a has-been place.
Easy to base that decision just on parking. Compare the safe, well-lit, clean, free parking of the businesses surrounding Taft Corners with the graffiti, gloom and scary vagrants haunting any of Burlington’s parking garages. I have yet to find a discarded needle in Williston. It’s unfortunate for the honest, hard-working business owners and employees in Burlington, but a majority of the voters there do not see the value in catering to decent, productive, law-abiding people. Voting in leftist fanatics only loses shoppers and diners resulting in loss of businesses and the revenue they bring.
They just lost their only downtown movie theater. Dont count on much in the way of federal funding from the Trump Administration, as they are into a return to normalcy and law and order and will not want to feed the beast of progressive ruination.
Liberal Democrats can’t handle tax policy, economic development or crime. What they can do is increase taxes so that young people will leave, put the homeless in hotels where the homeless destroy the hotels and award fake Indians reparations.
I’ve lived in three states in the last 50 years: Mississippi, Florida and Vermont. Vermont is the prettiest. But Mississippi and Florida are better economically and politically and offer a better quality of life. Our lib socialist governments here are the pits! But I love the snow and the mountains and the lakes. But never, ever would I open a business here, nor would I buy a good house. Because a good house costs $5000-$8000 a year in taxes!
My puny 1 bedroom condo worth $180k in Moretown costs $2700 a year in property taxes. My $550k 3 bedroom, 3 bath house with pool in Florida costs $2800 in taxes. Plus no state income tax in Florida.
My town in Florida has grown more than 50 percent in population since 2014. Wonder why? No crime. Low taxes. Good new housing. Great jobs.
Vermont, the Zombie state. Zombies have low or zero brain function, similar to 3/4 of Vermont voters. Liberals hide from the realities of downtown Burlington. They stay in their $800,000.00 homes off of Speir St. or other neighborhoods around the queen city. They drive their expensive vehicles to Wiliston to shop or order online for delivery. They apparently all vote with their woke feelings and can afford to because their wealth allows them to escape the policies of the progressives they support. While much of the state crumbles around them they enjoy the comfort of their echo chamber aghast at what’s happening fully unaware of the fact that it is them causing it.
I’m ashamed to say that I’ve lived in Burlington for some 30 years now, so I know the character and mentality of many of its people. My neighbors are doctors, lawyers, business owners-a State Trooper-and professors. You would think that they would be considered ‘intelligent’, but they are not.
They have Black Lives Matter’s signs on their front lawns, unbelievably, one on the State Trooper’s lawn. I’ve run for various political offices over the years and in talking with these so-called ‘elites’, I’ve found them to be ignorant, closed-minded, arrogant, and inculcated in groupthink.
The neo-socialists-aka democrats and progressives-understood that the new ‘means of production’ to seize were no longer merely factories but knowledge production: They’ve seized the education system; they’ve seized the major news-media and entertainment production.
These so-called elites’ are now genuinely incapable of thinking for themselves; they are incapable of rational thought and critical thinking. They have essentially been brainwashed, indoctrinated, propagandized, and they’re totally unaware of any of this. And the vast majority of these people that I’m describing here-I believe-reside in Vermont’s legislature.
It’s quite stunning and I don’t know where we’re going from here because the vast majority of the coming generations of children have been forced-fed this toxic neo-Marxist worldview.
They’ve been taught to hate their country and culture and thus part-take in a kind of doom-loop of neo-Marxist dialectics that seems, to me, to point towards a kind of atheistic nihilism.

Bring it to the counselors. Let them know this is the result of their policies. One if them is defunding the police. They need to be held accountable. These pictures are 100% accurate showing the real problem in the Queen City.
This Instagram page for Burlington functions like a “franchise”. The original page with the “We Document, You Decide” mission statement is called “seattle.looks.like.shxt” with over 450k followers for the City of Seattle. If you live in another city that lacks mainstream media coverage, feel free to start your own too!
Burlington is exactly where it deserves to be…. No more, no less.
If you continue to place in practice policies and inane leadership the spiral will continue. There will be no more adults in the building to pick up the mess you have created.
The pendulum apparently has not swung wide enough to get the attention to redirect it in a more reasonable direction.
burlingtonians get what they deserve. They wanted NYC, LA, SEA, DC… they got it. Let them bathe in their fruits. Let them admire their accomplishments. Let them suffer their sewing.
Reality bites – sometimes really hard. After over four years of woke political rhetoric, community activism, racial taunting and disparaging, ethnic superiority complexes, pharmacutical terrorism, deadly lethal drugs awash across the country, human trafficking, and food, water, air tainting is all done by design. The goal is to collapse society and complete the wealth transfer and financial reset. Don’t expect it to stop any time soon. The war against humanity is in full view and full swing. Many are being taken out by war, poverty, poisoning, and criminal conduct. The more divided we remain, the more are going to die in numbers unimaginable.
I have to agree that burlington does have that appearance. What I find interesting is those who think Burlington is just fine. I think these same people who think burlington is fine also think the cold blooded murderer of a Healthcare CEO is justified and acceptable. I will venture a bet those people also voted for harris, sanders, balant and welch.
People of the left cheer on the breakdown of our “racist, patriarchal, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, capitalist” society. If the full acceptance of open drug sales/use, wanton discarding of potentially pathogenic needles, vagrants sleeping in the doorways of businesses and the celebration of a street murder of a business professional helps to bring it about, then it is to be celebrated and perpetuated.
Most of the rest of the country has chosen to move on and return to a state of Leave it to Beaver normalcy and prosperity. If the majority of voters in Burlington choose to emulate San Francisco, LA, Oakland, Portland OR and Seattle, then good luck with that. Dont expect much in the way of federal funds from the next administration to keep that up.
