Letter from the Publisher

If you value independent journalism…

If you value independent journalism — the kind that questions power, exposes bias, and refuses to follow the herd — then I hope you’ll take a moment to read this and consider your level of support.

Guy Page and Social Media Director Paul Bean

I’m Guy Page, editor & publisher of the Vermont Daily Chronicle and the Burlington Daily News. Monday-Saturday we publish news and analysis you won’t find anywhere else in Vermont media. While much of the state’s press leans heavily to the political majority — echoing the talking points of elected officials, interest groups, and entrenched bureaucracies — we dig deeper. We ask tough questions. We follow the money. And most importantly, we tell the truth, even when it’s inconvenient.

Our readers know that our staff and contributing writers shine a light on stories others ignore or suppress — from government overreach, to ideological agendas in public policy, to the real-world impact of decisions made in Montpelier. We are increasingly being read and followed on social media outside Vermont as well, by people across the country who are watching our state as a case study of what happens when one side of the political spectrum dominates unchecked.

We do all of this with no corporate or non-profit backing and no political party funding. Apart from several much-appreciated advertisers, we are 100% reader supported, and to continue this important work — and expand it — we need your help.

If you haven’t yet become a Sustaining Subscriber for $108/year, I urge you to do so today. Your support enables us to keep holding the powerful accountable and providing a voice for Vermonters who feel unheard.

If you are already a Sustaining Subscriber, please accept my grateful thanks. YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN! Please consider whether you might choose to make an additional one-time contribution. For example, some households with two avid daily readers choose to become double sustaining subscribers

Please consider becoming a Sustaining Subscriber – monthly or annual – or making a one-time donation. Every dollar goes directly toward reporting the stories that matter and that no one else is telling.

If you prefer writing checks to giving online, our mailing address is Vermont Daily Chronicle, P.O. Box 1547, Montpelier, VT 05601.

Thank you for reading, and for standing with us in defense of free, fearless journalism.

Free Speech Forever,

Guy Page

  1. Absolutely! It is one of the most valuable donations I make, and try to do more. For us like-minded folks, it is just about the only place we can read the truth. Not MSM biased! I also feel 100% comfortable commenting here as well.

  2. Thank you so much Guy, Paul and all the. VDC staff, contributors and readers. Thank you for digging in and speaking up. I continue to learn so much from everyone here.

  3. “ Our readers know that our staff and contributing writers shine a light on stories others ignore or suppress”. This is so accurate. The Vermonters that only go to the few television networks are purposely left in the dark. Most recently the FBI report that the CCP was involved in the 2020 election and a postal truck did indeed bring ballots from NY to PA. What happened to we report you decide?
