A 33-year-old homeless man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly breaking into a residence on Cross Road and violating multiple court-ordered conditions, the Newport Dispatch reports.

Anthony Heath was taken into custody by troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks and deputies from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department following a 911 call at approximately 11:12 a.m.

The caller, Joan Paro, reported that Heath was breaking windows to gain access to the home.

Upon arrival, authorities found Heath inside the kitchen eating a sandwich.

Investigators determined Heath had thrown a farm milk jug through the front door window to enter the residence.

He was also found to be in violation of three court-ordered conditions of release, which prohibited him from being at the Cross Road property and engaging in violent activities.

Heath was additionally charged with petit larceny, unlawful mischief, and failure to comply with the Sex Offender Registry requirements.

The victims, Eric Carpenter and Joan Paro, reside at the Waterford property.

Heath was transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.

  1. …should be charged with “operating a kitchen without owner’s consent”, like our prosecutors do when a thief STEALS a car.

    • Charging level might be determined by what kind of sandwich… misdemeanor PB&J? Felony for a Philly cheesesteak? Perhaps an aggravated enhancement if he sliced tomatoes for it?

  2. He looks completely normal. Said no one except Sarah George & Becca Balint. When will the homeowner be arrested for disturbing HIS peace?

    • It seems like there’s a lot of abnormal and illegal folks roaming around Vermont these days. Maybe, just maybe someone could suggest that the legislature could stop healing the planet and start healing these people. Instead of millions for hotel stays those millions and the other wasted millions on global warming/climate change, universal meals at school, cash to make people stay off drugs, DEI BS and whatever pie in the sky endeavor they have planned could be shelved and they start to work on mental health, drug abuse, crime and living within their means. I won’t hold my breath. I guess it has to get worse before the people raise up and demand some changes. Maybe the next election cycle!

  3. His mother said he was a good boy when he was two years old. Got to wonder, who did he molest?????

  4. Isn’t the number one obligation of the elected officials of this state to provide us all with safety from obvious sources of danger? They have fallen way down on that most important of all their tasks!! The only solution is a fresh batch of elected officials, this time look for competency, not DEI.

  5. Have you ever noticed how many crimes are committed by those who violate their conditions of release? It would behoove our legislators to propose a bill and pass laws with very severe penalties for violating conditions, such as very high bail and making those violations of conditions a felony. What’s the point of conditions of release if they’re not obeyed? No enforcement and more probation is not effective.

    • Vermont’s bail laws are restricted to in most cases only being used to insure that someone shows up for their court date. Only in the cases of extreme public safety concern can someone be denied pre-trial release. Therefore, it only makes sense that people who have a track record of NOT showing up in the past be denied bail as a matter of routine.

    • And Rich, let’s legislatively change the parameters of those bail laws. I do understand that the Eighth Amendment prescribes certain parameters already for bail, but without circumventing that, there needs to be some creative changes made for bail reform to accommodate the rampant increase in serial arrestees.

Why is there a rampant increase? Because there have not been strong enough consequences to act as deterrents. In a morally relativistic society in which there is no objective truth, and the lines between right and wrong and good and evil have been so blurred, if not removed altogether, the law is not respected. Bottom line, it is the fear of the Lord which causes us to depart from evil. And if God has been removed from the equation—as the Communists and Marxists intentionally have been working at for many, many years—there is no one to fear, and evil and lawlessness increase. Jesus told us this would happen, but we don’t have to accept that without fighting against it and fighting for justice and public safety.

  6. Yes Martin and many in agreement with you except those that protect and serve in our State Government .When it gets to the point where they are not safe in their homes or at work just maybe we will see change . Will it be too late for a lawless state .
