Heroin user gets four months for crash that killed two high school students

By Guy Page

An Island Pond woman who admitted to using heroin within the previous 24 hours was sentenced Tuesday to four months in prison for the 2022 crash that killed two high school students, the Caledonian-Record reported this morning.

Katelyn Deslandes, now 25, was driving a car that on February 16 crossed the center line on Rte. 105 in Charleston and crashed head-on into a car occupied by Taylor Warren of Lunenberg and Logan Cota of Charleston, both 18.

The sentence followed a plea deal on charges of negligent operation, death resulting. Although the car was littered with empty Twisted Tea cans, and Deslandes admitted to using heroin within 24 hours, not enough evidence was available to prove driving under the influence, court records said. The charges were downgraded from felonies to misdemeanors because of the lack of proof of impaired driving.

Warren attended Lyndon Institute, Cota attended North Country Union High school. Neither were wearing seat belts.

Home improvement fraud – Luke Perry Jr., 35, of Newport, faces felony charges for home improvement fraud following an investigation by the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department. The incident, which occurred in Albany, was first reported on June 9, said police cited in a Newport Dispatch report today.

After an in-depth investigation, the department says it was determined that Perry had entered into a contract with the victim, accepted payment, but did not complete the services as agreed. Perry has been issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Orleans Criminal Division, on February 27, to respond to the charge of Home Improvement Fraud.

As incidents of home improvement fraud continue to rise, homeowners are urged to take proactive measures to protect themselves from falling victim. To safeguard your investment, always research contractors thoroughly, obtain multiple quotes, check references, and insist on a written contract with clear payment terms and milestones.

  1. Four months for killing two people? What’s wrong with this story……………….

  2. It is unbelievable. How has justice served the families of Taylor Warren and Logan Cota? We can’t blame Sarah George for this fiasco.

  3. Apparently, you can get away with murder in Vermont, Oh yeah, you will get a slap on the wrist, and to hell with those you killed ………………………… how pathetic !!

    • To CHenry, you can get away with murder but you will be charged for having a firearm stolen from your home by teenagers if you are conservative or at least non left/liberal/Marxist, for failure to secure said firearm.
We live in a clown universe. MC Escher couldn’t even draw this nonesense.

  4. They probably didn’t draw blood for drug testing on that island pond woman so the state had no proof she was impaired. Two young lives wasted and the state is truly at fault. The state knows it should be protecting the public but it chooses not to. At least get them off the roads!!!! Instead they do very little or nothing. It seems to be an encouraged behavior and they are encouraging it. 4 months for killing 2 teenagers just starting out in life. How many people have to die???? All these family members of all of the people who have been killed on a Vermont highway within the last three years should bring a class action suit against the state for not doing its job and protecting their loved one from death or lifelong injury resulting. The state won’t change otherwise. It has to hurt. They should be sued for millions of dollars which might be the only way to see any type of justice. It’s the only thing they understand and if George wants to break the vt legal system then her words need to be highlighted and they’ll throw her first under the bus!!! I know nothing will bring back your loved one but it might help ease your pain.

    • Agreed. The state needs to be sued and Sarah George (re: the verbalization of her lawless intent & acts) also needs to be sued amongst other actions, in her professional capacity and personal capacity if possible. The state of Vermont is enforcing laws selectively as are at least half of the states in this Union. Democracy is being intentionally undermined and these two poor souls who directly lost their lives due to DUI (vehicular homicide) require avenge.

Sadly, Vermont & this nation’s casual disregard for the sanctity of life is widespread and began with the nod to the mass slaughter of the innocent in utero which is today lauded by the left. Further, these two young people, much like the approximate 3,000 other American’s lives being eradicated via fentanyl overdoses every week, are being taken with intent in order to serve the left’s radicalized globalist directives to reduce population and create a unified, one-party elitist-controlled world order.

All will see how much once-free Americans can withstand without taking up whatever action is necessary to defend the former Constitutional Republic and resist this overthrow; though with the tens of millions who have already invaded our borders, the once-free press transformed into a vehicle for mass propaganda, the utter lawlessness and complete abandonment for the Constitution nationwide, the January 6th scheme, etc. I’m not at all certain that it’s not far too late.

  5. I would like to point out that the man that was driving down the road and attacked by Antifa in Charlotte, North Carolina, which resulted in him loosing control of his car and driving into a crowd, resulting in the death of one Antifa protester got 25-30 years in prison. The United Nations even reported on the event stating that it was a tragedy and that it couldn’t understand why governments believed that Antifa was a domestic terrorist group when obviously it was an antifascist group. I would like to point out that American politicians, universities and media agreed with the United Nations.

The man that drove into a Christmas parade that injured many young white female children, killing one or more of them, got almost no time in prison. Why, you ask? Because he was sorry.

This is our new criminal justice system, with the application of Repressive Tolerance and social justice, where the actions of the left (or anyone deemed oppressed like a heroin dealer or shop lifters) go unpunished and ignored, while the actions of those on the right are not tolerated, amplified in the media and subject to extreme punishment as well as censorship.

Neo-matxist and communist Herbert Marcose wrote a book in the mid to late 1950s called Repressive Tolerance, which advocated for what is occuring globally today. The Five Eyes Approach started by Obama prior to leaving office involved five nations and strategically censored narratives mostly from the right. This is a great example of Repressive Tolerance.
