Helmetless Harley-riding teen dies

A 19-year-old New Hampshire man, possibly under the influence of alcohol, died Friday when the Harley Davidson Street Glide he was riding on a Northeast Kingdom highway missed a curve and struck a utility pole.

Andre Dostie of Columbia was not wearing a helmet, police say. At 6 pm, Vermont State Police responded to  a report of a motorcycle crash on VT RT 102 Lemington. Dostie succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Dostie was traveling south on VT RT 102 when he failed to negotiate a slight right hand bend, traveled off the traveled portion of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors. The 2010 motorcycle was totaled.
