Conservative undercover ‘guerilla’ journalist James O’Keefe was issued a notice of trespass by Vermont State Police in Jericho Monday night, state police say. Based on preliminary reports, O’Keefe and his crew apparently were investigating illegal immigration across the Canadian border into Vermont.
According to Vermont law enforcement sources, O’Keefe, founder of Project Veritas and now owner of O’Keefe Media Group (OMG), was detained by Vermont State Police in the Jericho area after a home owner who is a federal immigration officer complained he and his crew were hassling them.
David Peterson of the Vermont Dept. of Public Safety confirmed the basic narrative, without the immigration angle, in this email sent to VDC at 11:16 AM:
On 09/21/2024, around 4:22 PM, Vermont State Police were notified of a suspicious occurrence outside a residence in the town of Derby. It was reported that three individuals arrived in a white van type vehicle with an out-of-state registration plate and attempted to aggressively question the homeowner. The white van left the area prior to arrival of a Vermont State Police member.
Further investigation suggested one member of the group approached the homeowner feigning car trouble. When the homeowner offered assistance, the group began to question the homeowner on a completely different issue relating to his occupation. One of the individuals was reported to be holding a microphone. The homeowner requested the group be issued a notice of trespass for his property.
On 09/21/2024, around 7:15 PM, a member of the Vermont State Police was approached while parked on along a road in Jericho by James O’Keefe and two other individuals. They had arrived in the same white van that was reported to be involved in the earlier incident in Derby. The van was parked partially on the road surface a short distance from where the Trooper in his cruiser was parked. Vermont statutes require an operator of a motor vehicle to be in possession of their license certificate. Mr. O’Keefe verbally identified himself and subsequently provided a government issued ID.
Mr. O’Keefe was in possession of a microphone and the other individuals appeared to be recording the encounter. During the interaction, Mr. O’Keefe asked the Vermont State Police Trooper why he was parked in that location and offered that he was seeking to ask questions of select individuals about a topic he was to be covering in an upcoming production. As part of the encounter, the Vermont State Police issued Mr. O’Keefe a notice of trespass as had been requested. No other enforcement action was taken and the group then departed.
Vermont State Police has not identified any other encounters with Mr. O’Keefe on 09/21/2024. Preliminarily, there is no known contact between Vermont State Police and Mr. O’Keefe on 09/23/2024.
O’Keefe, reported on his X account Monday evening:
“My team and I have been detained near the Canadian border by the Vermont State police. I’m announcing something big. It’s not a video—it’s something I’ve been working on for a year. I’ll be on stage in Fort Worth, Texas, with Tucker Carlson tomorrow to make the announcement. Stay tuned.”
The announcement was promptly picked up by Tucker Carlson Network on X and a host of other prominent conservative news and commentary sites, including Alex Jones.
As reported in the Vermont Daily Chronicle, the northern border has seen the highest rate of terrorist-watch arrests, as well as the highest increase in illegal crossings.

If in fact O’Keefe used this tactic of feigning car trouble to try and get this interview with a Federal Immigration Officer I disagree with it. That being said I am grateful that we are finally getting some National Attention to all the Illegal Aliens crossing our Northern border from Canada into Vermont. O’Keefe and Carlson hopefully will get this to the masses. God Bless Us All And God Bless The United States Of America !!!

Unfortunately we can’t reply to a reply on a comment here. To respond to briancostellovt, what passes for the “real press” in this country lies and misrepresents themselves ALL THE TIME. Generally speaking, the “mainstream” press is nothing more than the mouthpiece for the democrat party. And the democrat politicians lie with impunity because they know they will be protected by the lying press. Can this possibly be news to you?
This is what happens when real press does their jobs in Vermont. Of course, if you enter illegally or bring drugs into the state, that’s ok.
They are terrified of the truth and sunlight.

Like the cops don’t lie to people so they can arrest them.
By the ‘real press’, do you mean like the ABC reporters/moderators and ‘fact checkers’ who were entirely honest and forthcoming during the last presidential debate?

Are we talking invisible space aliens or the ones like those that flew planes into the World Trade Center?
Too bad groups of Americans can’t infiltrate the groups coming across the border and tag along into the USA just to see whether the authorities would notice and make an exception for the ones who are legit.
But the Right never does stuff like that. I’m amazed this O’Keefe character did something soooooooo underhanded. I’m sure all the radicals are in awe of such a ballsy move. Watch out, O’Keefe… ya might be a felon and get life for this heinous act.
Just a note, when you are an undercover reporter, you don’t announce to the people who you are investigating, I’m a reporter.
Might not seem fair, but then how else are you going to uncover what is going on? Criminals come into stores, they don’t say, I’m going to steal these items and proceed to steal, do they?
I think the world would be a better place if we had more reporters like O’Keefe. I fear a LOT of the ones we have now as siding with the bad guys and covering up for them.
Apparently, the powers be, don’t want the truth getting out on how ” Illegals ” are being handled in the state……………………..so what are they hiding ?????

The alt-media (Gateway Pundit) made this sound more dramatic and sinister than it actually was – which I suspected considering it is controlled opposition. VDC reports with accuracy – Well done! Jericho is a ways away from the actual border and alt-media made it sound otherwise.
James O’Keefe is rather late to the party and the story. Rebel News out of Canada was all over this two+ years ago (on the NY side.) JLM Investigates (Youtube) was up at the border last fall reporting how wide open the spaces are up there.
Be careful of alt-media – scrutinize and discern as hard as MSM. Although I commend James for putting out food for thought prompting more research, I surmize now he is a gatekeeper. It is not what they report – it is what they don’t report. Down dirty details always seem to be missing. He also doesn’t seem to be as hog-tied, collared, censored, or deplatformed as others. The Project Veritas dust-up came and went. The Daily Mail dust-up came and went. The more money they have, the less trouble they seem get from the Big Tech platforms.

It’s about time the vile democrat corruption and dirty cops in Vermont got some national attention. Thanks James OKeefe. I have been trying to get Judicial watch to sue Vermont for failing to clean up their voter rolls for years, now maybe they will take notice.
The state police enforcers are just doing their thankless jobs daily, just trying to keep their pensions and maintains some order; and they do not make waves. It is their bosses that give the orders that need to be watched, to make sure they are not in someones pocket.
Any how, by the desire of Biden, Harris, and all the democrats, we have an open borders policy in effect, and that is what the voters wanted and that is what we will have as long as we choose democrats. This is their America.
