Berlin, Vt. – Governor Phil Scott today announced the appointment of Beth Quimby, of Lyndon, to complete the term of Representative Charles Wilson following his resignation.
“Beth has a history of public service and involvement in her community and has the ability to hit the ground running for her constituents this session,” said Governor Phil Scott. “I look forward to working with her to advocate for more fiscal responsibility and smart investments for our communities in Caledonia County, and all across the state.”
Quimby was a middle school math teacher at Barton Graded School for over 30 years, where she worked with the Agency of Education to support development and implementation of new tools and policy changes, including proficiency-based financial literacy standards.
Adding to her service, Quimby has also served as an officer on the boards of three non-profit organizations: Victory Granby Holiday in the Hills Historical Preservation Group, Concord High School Alumni Association, and The Concord Historical Society.
“My family, especially my mother Connie, has a long history of service to others. I am honored to follow in their footsteps,” said Quimby. “I thank Governor Scott for this opportunity. I consider it a privilege to represent my fellow Vermonters.”
Quimby will be sworn in and seated in the House of Representatives in the coming week. Keeping with tradition, Governor Scott selected a replacement from the same party as the vacating legislator.

been in government jobs and non profits all her life/// it will not long to find out who she represents///
correction// it will not take long///
Just what we don’t need in office, a previous school teacher. Why not a business person, someone experienced in government contracting? Someone like that just might read and ask questions.
Because she’s from the same party does that mean that she’s from the same party Nikki Scott is not a part of. Or is she from the party Nikki Scott is a part of. I’m confused.
And that, sir is the best question of the week. Looking at the brief bio above, she
would seem to be the later. Never would I expect phil scott to appoint a conservative, however Ms. Quimby may take her oath seriously and surprise us- after all she is not from any of the 7 corrupted counties in Vermont.
I do know her mom was a quiet but principled conservative
Re: Guy Page, I do know her mom was a quiet but principled conservative.
I know many people whose parents were conservatives, but their kids are flaming libtards. Sometimes the acorn lands way far from the tree. Look at the most famous conservative of all time Ronald Reagan’s two kids.
Give the girl a chance…..she’s from the Northeast Kingdom… not the Burlington area
Nepotism anyone?
I thought the same thing. Absolutely questionable from an ethical standpoint.
How nice of Nikki Scott to replace representative Wilson with someone from the same so-called Vermont Republican Party. I wonder who he would have appointed if that appointment swung the majority of the House by one vote?
Like Guy Page, I knew Beth’s mother Connie Quimby as a quiet and principled conservative. I first met Beth while she worked as a teller at my local bank. (Yes, she’s actually held a “real” job.) Having worked with her on several local Republican party issues, I can safely say she believes in those core Republican principles of small government, low taxes, liberty, personal responsibility and an educational system that enables our graduates to compete in a global marketplace, all of which are wrapped in a constitution to which politicians are supposed to abide. Her district’s Republican party committee chose to send her name to the Governor for consideration; she wasn’t pulled out of thin air. If the Republican party still believes in those core principles, I believe Beth will do a great job representing the people in our district. The one difference between her and her mother? I suspect Beth will be a little less “quiet” in advancing those core principles. Looking forward to seeing her get to work.
